A Family Day at Karatsu Castle

Recently, I visited Karatsu Castle in Saga Prefecture with my two sons and my wife’s parents.

We were blessed with beautiful scenery, and the whole day felt refreshing and full of calm energy.

🚗 A Bright Morning Drive

The day started with clear skies and warm sunlight.
My father-in-law drove, while I sat in the back with my sons, chatting and watching the scenery pass by.

As we approached Karatsu, the view opened up into a wide stretch of blue sea blending into the sky.

It was our first time visiting this castle, and our excitement grew with every mile.

🏯 Climbing the Long Stone Steps

In the parking area, the first thing that greeted us was…
a long set of stone steps—much longer than expected!

My sons quickly ran ahead, while I followed behind, calling,
“Hey, wait for me!”

Sunlight filtered through the trees, and a gentle breeze passed through the greenery.
Just walking up the steps felt refreshing.

🏯✨ White Castle Walls Against a Clear Blue Sky

When we finally reached the top,
the bright white castle tower appeared right in front of us—
standing proudly against the vivid blue sky.

Being so close to the sea makes Karatsu Castle feel extra special.
The contrast between the white walls and the blue sky was stunning.

I couldn’t help taking photo after photo📷

🌊 A Stunning Panorama From the Top Floor

We climbed up to the highest floor of the castle.
Inside, the castle is like a mini-museum, and the stairs were easy to climb.

At the top, the view that greeted us was breathtaking:

• A calm, wide-open sea

• A beautifully curved sandy beach

• Blue sky mixed with soft clouds

• Small islands scattered in the distance

My sons were thrilled—
“It’s so beautiful!”
“Look! There’s a black kite!”

My father-in-law also stood quietly, taking in the scenery.
Sharing this moment together made me genuinely happy.

🥤 A Quick Juice Break

On the way down, we found a small retro-style shop.
We bought juice and sat on a wooden bench for a break.

Cold juice after walking… why does it taste so amazing?
My sons smiled with satisfaction.
Such a simple moment, yet it warms the heart.

Small pauses like this are what make short trips memorable.

🌿 A Relaxing Walk Back

Outside, a gentle sea breeze wrapped around us.
We walked through a path surrounded by greenery,
and my sons chatted happily with their grandparents.
We even played with soap bubbles for a bit.

Nothing particularly special happened—
but everyone was smiling.
Sometimes that’s all you need for a perfect day.

The blue sea, the calm sky, everyone’s happy faces…
It all made me feel refreshed and grateful.

I found myself thinking,
“Next time, I want to bring my wife too.”
A simple, peaceful day that felt truly rewarding.
