私待つわ♪ : My Dear Honey from Kumamoto: Happy to Wait!

毎年、高松三越のバレンタインイベントを楽しみにしています。今年はちょっと気合いを入れて、イベント初日の開店に間に合うように車を出しました。しかし着いた時には、すでに開店から５分経っていました。

エレベーターで５階の催事会場に行くと、ものすごい人だかりです。開店５分で！？しかも、整理券を配っていて、順番を待たなければ中へ入れません。初日ってこんなに人が来るの！びっくりなんですけど。

結局、中に入れたのは30〜40分後くらいでしたか。やっと入れた、と思ったら、どこもかしこもスコーン！スコーン！スコーン！なんとそこは、バレンタインイベントではなく「スコーンパーティ！」の会場だったのです。私って生きてるだけで色んなハプニングが起こるのよね、何故かしら。

まぁ、スコーンは好きですよ。それにしても、世の中の人は、こんなにもスコーンを求めているのか、と少々驚きでしたね。

会場にはたくさんのお店がブースを出していて、せっかくだからと、いくつかの店舗で数種類ずつスコーンを買ってしまいました。

さあ、今度こそバレンタインイベントの会場に行こう！と歩き出したところ、会場の一角でハチミツを売っているのを見つけ、思わず足を止めました。

だって販売員のおじさん(すみません、私と同い年くらいかも)が、ハチミツの試食を目の前に出してくれたからです。それは断れません！

そしてひとくち。
わ〜ん、なにこれ！？めちゃくちゃ美味しいって感動したのが、熊本県産のミカンハチミツです！爽やかな香りと後味。

熊本県ってハチミツの生産量が全国第２位なんだそうですね。この時、私が購入したのは、「磐石ローヤルゼリー株式会社」さんのミカンハチミツでした。

うっかり迷い込んだ「スコーンパーティ！」で出会ってしまった運命のハチミツです。

ホームページを開くと、発送遅延のお知らせがありましたが、順次発送されているとのことなので、注文することにしました。届くのはゆっくりで良いのです。

熊本の自然と職人さんが作ってくれたハチミツが届くのを、楽しみに待ちたいと思います。

​Every year, I look forward to the Valentine's Day event at Takamatsu Mitsukoshi. So this year, I was pretty motivated and drove over early to make it right for the opening on the very first day. But by the time I arrived, five minutes had already passed since opening.

​I took the elevator up to the 5th floor event space, and wow—it was packed! Just five minutes in?! They were even handing out numbered tickets, and you couldn't get in without waiting your turn. Does the first day always draw a crowd like this?! I was honestly so shocked!

​I finally made it inside after about 30 or 40 minutes. "At last!" I thought… until I looked around.

​Wait, scones... scones... EVERYWHERE!

​It turns out it wasn't the Valentine's event at all, but a "Scone Party!" venue. Honestly, why do unexpected little mishaps like this always seem to find me?

Well, I do love scones! But still, I was kind of amused to see just how much people were into them.

The venue was filled with booths from various shops, so I figured, since I was already there, I might as well buy a few different types of scones from several stores.

​"Alright, now time to find the actual Valentine's event!" I thought as I set off. But as I was walking, a honey stall in the corner caught my eye.

​The vendor—an older guy (wait, he was probably my age, so I shouldn’t talk!)—offered me a taste test right then and there. How could I say no to that?!

​So, I took a bite, and… OH MY GOSH. What is this?! It was so delicious I was genuinely moved. It was Mandarin Orange Honey from Kumamoto Prefecture, with the most refreshing aroma and lovely clean aftertaste.

​―I actually found out later that Kumamoto is the second-largest honey producer in Japan!

​The one I fell in love with was from Banjak Royal Jelly Co., Ltd. Talk about a twist of fate—finding my "dear honey" by accidentally wandering into a Scone Party!

I checked their website, there was a notice saying shipments were a bit delayed, but they are processing orders step by step, so I placed my order anyway. I really don't mind waiting at all.

​I'm just so happy to wait for this special honey, crafted by the nature and artisans of Kumamoto, to arrive at my doorstep.
