【今日のエッセイ】

どこか遠くへ行きたくなる朝が、ときどきあります。

理由はうまく言えないのに、心だけが先に旅支度を始めている。

見慣れた景色の向こうに、まだ知らない自分がいる気がするからなんだと思います。

遠くを見る人の目は、少し潤んで、少し澄んでいます。

今いる場所を離れることが、いちばんの近道になる日もあるのです。

遠き地を
想えば胸に
灯がともり
まだ見ぬ道を
足が探せり

【Today's Essay】

Some mornings, a longing to go somewhere far just rises up in you.

You can't quite say why, yet your heart has already begun to pack for the journey.

It's because, beyond the familiar view, you sense a self you haven't met yet.

The eyes of someone gazing far off look a little misted, and a little clearer.

There are days when leaving where you are turns out to be the shortest way forward.

Think of a far land,
and a small light
warms the chest —
feet begin to seek
a road not yet seen.

And so — enjoy the rest of your day.
