【今日のエッセイ】

始まりの日って、意外と静かに来るものです。

朝、いつもと同じ時間に目が覚めて、いつもと同じ窓が明るくなっています。

何も変わっていないのに、地面の下では水が動いているような気がします。

大きな決心をした日より、なんでもない朝のほうが、後から振り返ると分かれ道だったりします。

始まりは、始まったあとで気づくものなんだと思います。

はじまりは
いつもしずかに
おとずれて
きのうのつづき
めをさますあさ

【Today's Essay】

Beginnings, it turns out, tend to arrive quietly.

I wake at the same hour, and the same window is growing light.

Nothing has changed, and yet under the ground the water seems to be moving.

More often than the day of a great decision, it is an ordinary morning that turns out, in hindsight, to have been the fork in the road.

A beginning is something we notice only after it has begun.

Beginnings come
always so quietly —
and so
this morning, still yesterday's,
is the one where I awake.

And so — enjoy the rest of your day.
