Carving My Words into Time

【May 18, 2026】

I decided to start writing on note because X’s algorithm made me feel that I could no longer post my thoughts as freely or casually as I wanted.

I am not an expert on politics.

But around March 2026, I began to feel that something about the atmosphere in society had changed.

The reason was simple: more and more political posts started appearing in my recommendations.

I still knew very little about politics, so I simply watched them as they came across my timeline.

⟡.·.··············································⟡.·.

My memory may not be perfect, and I may have the timeline slightly out of order, but two posts left a deep impression on me.

One was about refusing military conscription.

As a fan of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, I remember thinking, “Even Rohan Kishibe couldn’t simply refuse something like that.”

The other was a post that said something like:

“My parents don’t seem concerned about what’s happening in society, but today I wrote my will.” (paraphrased)

Reading that made me stop and think.

If freedom of expression were ever to become more restricted, it would become much harder to speak openly.

In that moment, I understood why someone might feel that writing down their thoughts for the future had meaning.

⟡.·.··············································⟡.·.

“It’s painful to feel as though your own country has become something you fear.”

The anxiety I feel today.

The sadness I feel today.

I believe there is value in recording those feelings.

I do not know what direction Japan will take in the future.

But perhaps if enough people leave behind an honest record of what they felt, those words may one day help someone understand this moment in history.

I am just an ordinary person with almost no influence.

My words may never reach anyone.

Even so, as long as my spirit does not break, I want to keep writing.

For myself.

In a time when I feel anxious about the future of my country and its people, these words also serve as something like a personal testament.

I hope that everything happening in the world today turns out to have been unnecessary fear.

I hope that, years from now, we can all look back on these words with a smile.
