葛尾村の野行地区には「宝財踊り」という伝統芸能がある。10人の踊り手が異なる衣装を纏い踊りながら練り歩く、というものだ。避難指示解除が最も遅く、殆どの住民が戻ることができていない野行では、伝続の継承はとりわけ困難な状況にある。
今回は伝統の「継承」よりも、「保存」すること、部分的に「再現」することを重視し、2つの形式で発表を行った。
アクリルスタンドでは、踊り手が集まらなくても、場所が無くても、野行に帰って来られなくても、宝財踊りを見られる仕組みを構築した。
ファッションショーでは、「踊る」というハードルを取り除き、気軽に宝財踊りの要素を体感でき、また、 伝統芸能を鑑賞するのではなく、服を見て楽しむという形で、宝財踊りへの関心を高めることを目的とした。
The Noyuki District of Katsurao is home to a traditional performance called Hosai Odori in which ten dancers, all in different costumes, parade and dance around. The evacuation order for the Noyuki area was the last to be lifted, and so almost none of the former residents have been able to return. Because of this, their traditions are at risk of not being passed on.
My focus was on preserving and reproducing aspects of these traditions rather than passing them on.
The acrylic stand figures mean that even if ten dancers cannot be found, even if they have nowhere to dance, and even if people can't return to Noyuki, they still have a way to watch the Hosai Odori.
The aim of the fashion show was to get people interested in the Hosai Odori. Excluding the dance element lowered the barrier for people to participate. Rather than going to see a traditional performance, visitors could enjoy looking at the costumes.

大学卒業後、教職経験や長期海外旅行のため５年間ほど制作を行わない期間があり、帰国後から本格的に作家活動を開始した。
以来、主に立体作品とインスタレーション作品の制作、発表を続けている。
発表の舞台となる空間の特性やその現場の持つストーリー、周囲の環境などを利用して、物理的にもコンセプトの面でも、その場と深く関わりほかの場所では再現できないような作品を展開している。毎回空間に合わせて使用する素材や制作方法、表現様式も異なることがほとんどである。
また、自身の作品制作以外でも、あらゆるジャンルの表現者が集まる交流会を主催、日本とメキシコのアート交流プロジェクトの立ち上げと運営に携わる、など、アーティスト同士の個人的かつ国際的な繋がりを探る活動も積極的に行っている。
After graduating from the university, he spent about five years without making any artworks due to devoting himself to teaching and traveling abroad for long terms. He started his artistic career in earnest after returning to Japan.
Since then, he has been mainly creating and presenting three-dimensional works and installations.
He makes artworks that cannot be created in any other location because they are strongly connected to the site, both physically and conceptually, utilizing the features of the space where the works are presented, the story of the place, and the surrounding environment. In most cases, he uses different materials, production methods, and styles of expression to suit the space each time.
In addition to creating his own works, he is also actively involved in exploring personal and international connections between artists, such as organizing exchange gatherings for artists of all genres, and launching and managing art exchange projects between Japan and Mexico.
