In this near future, exo-abilities, informational organisms of an unfamiliar kind, have become part of everyday life. But this is not a battle story. They do not survive by defeating others. They survive only when people speak of them, record them, and make room for them within society.

The world once collapsed during the Exo-ability Pandemic of 2031. That collapse was also the moment humanity encountered a new form of life.

Exo-abilities transmit through cognition and manifest through understanding. Society therefore integrated them not as uncontrollable powers, but as phenomena to be managed through ethics, institutions, and technology.

From the 2050s onward, Japan began building an exo-ability coexistence society. It created systems for declaring exo-abilities, classifying them, and assessing their harm potential. Coexistence became possible only once their presence could be recorded, recognized, and brought into public view.

In this world, "strong exo-abilities" and "exo-abilities difficult to control" are selected out. Only those that adapt to society, become symbols, enter shared narratives, and prove useful survive.

Exo-abilities become tools, culture, and memory. Here, power does not shatter order. Order reshapes it, and it evolves alongside society. It becomes function rather than power, resonance rather than expansion, understanding rather than domination.

At its core, the story asks one question: how can people live with exo-abilities? This is not "a story about exo-abilities." It is the story of a society built around living with them.

It is also a record of people with different values who, even as they are recorded, watched, and selected, still choose to live together.
