アジア・インド太平洋地域の日本列島を語るうえでは、日本人は欧米を中心に語りがちである。しかし、江戸時代以降、シベリアに進出したお隣のロシアとの関係とその歴史は良くも悪くも切っても切り離せない。
日本人が忘れがちなロシアの歴史、価値観、本音などを探るべく、東京、日本列島各地、ロシア現地などの取材、証拠、法律などを基にそのロシアと日本に関する知られざる本当の姿に追った。

When discussing the Japanese archipelago within the context of the Asia-Indo-Pacific region, Japanese people tend to focus primarily on the West. Yet, the history and relationship with neighboring Russia—which expanded into Siberia from the Edo period onward—are inextricably linked to Japan, for better or for worse.
In an effort to explore the history, values, and true feelings of Russia, which Japanese people tend to forget, this book traces the little-known true picture of Russia and Japan based on interviews, evidence, and laws in Tokyo, various parts of the Japanese archipelago, and Russia itself.
