太平洋は、世界最大の海洋で、地球の3分の１を占め、インド洋、大西洋と共に世界三大洋に数えられます。
日本列島も太平洋に面し、太平洋の島々、島国とは深いつながりを有しています。
その様な太平洋に浮かぶ島々を、東京中枢、及び、シマグニという観点を通して、日本列島、太平洋、そして世界各地とどの様な相互に共鳴し、影響を与えたのかを取材、現地訪問、証拠、法律等に基づいて探ります。

The Pacific Ocean is the world's largest ocean, covering one-third of the Earth's surface and ranking alongside the Indian and Atlantic Oceans as one of the world's three major oceans. The Japanese archipelago also faces the Pacific and maintains deep ties with the ocean's islands and island nations. Through the lenses of Tokyo as a central hub and the concept of the "island nation" (“Shima-Guni”), this project explores—based on fieldwork, site visits, evidence, and legal frameworks—how these islands resonate with and influence the Japanese archipelago, the wider Pacific region, and the rest of the world.
