Voice – Sample Script/Dialogue Materials on a YouTube Playlist

Recently, in order to share my music with more people, I’ve been creating promotional videos myself—even though I’m still learning and experimenting every day. In that process, I often found myself thinking: “I wish I had just a little voice line here,” or “a short, sound-effect-like phrase would be perfect.”

When I talked about this with some actress friends who have stage experience, they agreed: “Good voice materials are surprisingly hard to find.” That led us to the idea: “Why don’t we just make them ourselves?” So alongside my music work, I started producing these voice and sound effect materials.

When recording, even with highly trained voice professionals, tiny sounds like lip noise, tongue clicks, teeth, or subtle mouth movements can sneak in unexpectedly. We go through the recordings carefully, fixing or re-recording as needed, creating short, versatile voice lines and phrases to build up our material library.

We’ve compiled these finished samples into a YouTube playlist. It includes everything from everyday conversational tones to situational lines, cute voices, calm and mature deliveries, and more—offering a wide variety of female voice styles.

In just the past six months or so, the use of these samples has grown rapidly, especially in Southeast Asia on platforms like TikTok. In this half-year alone, they’ve been used in over 800—maybe even close to 1000—videos. (Honestly, I’m amazed.) Total view counts have reached around 17.5 million, or close to 20 million. I’m truly grateful for how many people are making use of them, and honestly, I’m quite surprised.

【Production Environment / Notes】
At home, I have a small stage-like recording booth that also serves as my DTM (digital music production) space. My PC runs Windows 11 (13th Gen Intel Core i7-13700 2.10GHz, 32GB RAM) with ~9TB of combined storage (internal C and D drives totaling 3TB, plus 4TB external HDD and 2TB external SSD). (When I asked ChatGPT, it told me this might be enough space to store photos of all the cats on Earth…)

I use BandLab’s Cakewalk as my DAW. I used to be on Mac + Digital Performer for years, but constant freezing wore out my patience, so I switched completely to Windows. After researching and experimenting, I landed on Cakewalk. Despite being free software, it’s like a treasure chest of built-in instruments and effects, and it was easy for me to get started. (I’ve learned so much from the generous posts and videos other creators share on Note and YouTube.)

These days I mainly use samplers (IK Multimedia SampleTank 4 MAX, Native Instruments Komplete 14), so I rarely touch the built-in sounds. I was sad to see the GM-compatible multi-timbral TTS-1 disappear—it had some organ patches I loved.

Cakewalk’s ability to import video and edit audio or BGM while watching the footage is invaluable, even though I still wrestle with latency issues that never fully go away (live recordings often land 30–40 ticks ahead of the grid despite all buffer tweaking). But for free software, I can’t complain. When I loaded up too many sampler libraries and started experiencing freezes, the custom PC shop that built my system gave me excellent advice: moving IK Multimedia’s libraries to an SSD solved it. The IK Multimedia support staff were also wonderfully helpful.

My audio interface is a Presonus analog mixer (STUDIOLIVE, 24Bit 96kHz) connected via USB. It’s incredibly convenient for live recording since I can route channels precisely on the PC (a huge upgrade from the old days of patch bays, where you constantly swapped short gold-plated cables and dealt with contact noise). It strikes a nice analog/digital balance in workflow and sound.

Sound-wise it’s pretty straight and uncolored, with maybe a hint of that old-school Soundcraft analog mixer thickness I always admired. For mics, I mainly use the Neumann U87Ai and AKG C451, and I’ll switch to a dynamic mic when I want a punchier attack.

Recording always involves careful attention to articulation and noise control. I’m lucky to be on top of a hill, with a living room that opens onto a forest—so loud monitoring isn’t an issue. But highly sensitive condenser mics will still pick up distant birds and insects, so I also have to think about timing (they each have their own schedules for singing, and one chirp can set off a whole chorus!).

We try to design and capture sounds that truly serve creative projects and showcase the natural appeal of the voice. I look forward to making many more variations. Please give the samples a listen if you get the chance!
