album | 『The Space Before Words』

『The Space Before Words』

【English Description】

Sumi Asahina’s album The Space Before Words is an album that gently reaches toward emotions that have not yet become words, and toward the things that remain deep in the heart, still impossible to fully explain to anyone.

As we live, there is not only sorrow that can be clearly named, but also a quiet exhaustion that gathers within us over time, and anxieties we carry without ever showing them to others.

For those who have lost something precious.
For those who still cannot measure the weight of what they have lost.
For those who may appear to have lost nothing, yet feel as if only their heart has been left behind, little by little.

This album does not try to heal those feelings too quickly, nor does it wrap them up lightly in easy words of hope.

Soft piano, lingering resonance, and a female vocal that feels as though it is speaking gently from nearby.
These sounds do not raise their voice in order to encourage. Instead, they sit quietly beside the heart, never rushing it, simply staying there together.

Pain that remains, still difficult to put into words.
A quiet loneliness kept hidden from others.
Days in which we must face tomorrow again before we have even had time to sort through our own feelings.

The Space Before Words is an album that gently places a light in that space before feelings become words.

For those who do not want to rush toward answers,
and who do not want to force their emotions into order,
but simply wish to look once more, little by little, at what lives inside them.

This is a quiet musical work of observation, drawn by Sumi Asahina.
