万葉集191. 柿本人麻呂（かきのもとのひとまろ）の長歌を和語、英語、フランス語、ポルトガル語、北京語で唄います。
191. 柿本人麻呂（かきのもとのひとまろ）の長歌
天武天皇の長男であり、壬申の乱（672年）で華々しい大功を立て、のちに太政大臣として国を支えた高市皇子の崩御を悼んだ、人麻呂の絶技とも言える壮大な長歌です。
【意訳】
神々しく気高い我が大君（高市皇子）は、かつて国を揺るがしたあの壬申の乱の時、天の雷（いかづち）のごとき轟音とともに軍を率い、立ちふさがる敵をまたたく間に平定された。その雄々しい御姿は、まさに生ける神そのものであった。 戦いが終わり、平和をもたらした皇子は、藤原の宮廷で天を支える柱のように堂々と国を統治しておられた。
それなのに、あぁ、何ということか。皇子はいま、にわかにお隠れになり（崩御され）、白妙の雲にのって天へと上っていかれてしまった。 皇子のいなくなった宮殿の御門を見上げるたびに、臣下たちは声をあげて泣き崩れ、その流す涙は冷たい雨となって大地を濡らしている。 太陽を失ったかのように真っ暗になったこの大和の国で、私たちはこれから誰を仰いで生きていけばよいのだろうか。この深い喪失感と悲しみは、永遠に尽きることがない。

Our great Lord, a living god on this earth,
He ruled under the sky with the roar of thunder.
He built the palace,
strong as a pillar of stone,
But now, he has gone, rising up into the white clouds. Looking up at his iron gates, we cry in the dark,
