LOST VENUES

The museum has requested that people submit "artefacts and music ephemera" from closed venues across the capital by Saturday, 31st May. Some of those items may find their way into the exhibition when it opens its doors in 2026.

The exhibition, 'Lost Music Venues', will welcome submissions such as flyers, music equipment, photographs, signage, film, DJ gear, setlists and clothing related to any venues that operated in London between 1988 and 2025.

The exhibition will aim to highlight the rapidly declining number of venues, especially grassroots venues, in London, as well as the importance of these spaces to incubating various music scenes in the city. The team behind the project note that 3,000 venues – including nightclubs, bars and pubs – have closed in the capital since the COVID-19 pandemic forced widespread closures in 2020
