Nengi Omuku : The Dance of People and the Natural World
"アースカラー" や"くすみ"だけでは表現しきれない色の調和を持って描かれた人物や風景と、Sanyan（ナイジェリアの生地）の組み合わせで、大変美しかったです。また、歴史に根差した手仕事の尊さも感じられる展示でした。

上記の展示とは対照的に、くっきりとした色の組み合わせの絵画が印象的でした。ユーモアのある映像や、多様なマテリアルの組み合わさった作品でも、美の力強さが表現されていました。
私が住んでいたキャンパスから街の中心部が少し離れていたので、初めて Arnolfini を訪れたのは、ブリストルに着いて数日経ってからでした。
この二つの展示を何度も訪れることができたのは、会場である Arnolfini が大学の設備の一部で、無料で開かれたギャラリーだからです。とても入りやすく、居心地のよいギャラリーです。友達とcity centre で遊ぶ合間に、ふらっと入ることも何度かありました。
Centre のバス停があるあたりから Arnolfiniに向かって歩くハーバーサイドの並木道は、私がBristolでお気に入りの場所の一つです。途中のベンチに座って、対岸の観覧車をぼんやりと見ながら、何も考えずに過ごすこともありました。Arnolfiniの一階には本屋とカフェがあり、展覧会のポストカードを買ったり、外のテラス席でビールを飲んだり、カフェで友人とランチをとることもありました。

The figures and landscapes, depicted in a harmonious array of colors that ｃcannot be fully described by words such as "earth tones" and "dullness", are striking. The combination of Sanyan (a Nigerian fabric) and paintings is particularly beautiful, and the exhibition also conveys the value of historical handcrafts.

In contrast to the above exhibition, the combination of vivid colours in the paintings was impressive. Humorous video footage and works combining diverse materials also express the power of beauty.
Since the city center was a bit far from the campus where I lived, my first visit to Arnolfini was until a few days after arriving in Bristol. I was able to visit these two exhibitions several times because the venue Arnolfini is part of the university's facilities and is a free gallery. It's a welcoming and comfy gallery. I've dropped in a few times while hanging out with friends in the city center.
The tree-lined harborside street running from the Centre bus stop towards Arnolfini is a pleasant walk, and one of my favourite places in Bristol. I would sometimes sit on a bench along the way and stare the Bristol wheel on the opposite bank, enjoying peace and quiet. There was a bookstore and a cafe/bar on the ground floor of Arnolfini. I would buy postcards from exhibitions, drink beer on the terrace, or have lunch with friends in the cafe.
