Visual Thinking

Visual Thinking

Since childhood, I have always thought in images.
I used to believe everyone thought in the same way—through visuals.
Until quite recently, I truly thought so.
But then I realized that wasn’t the case.

When watching dramas, anime, films, or YouTube videos,
I notice that the points of focus are completely different.
I discovered this one day during a conversation—
we were simply looking at different things.
I pay attention to composition, movement, contrast, color,
the shape and texture of people.
But most others focus on dialogue, written words, or plot lines.
That’s why our conversations often miss each other,
and the moments we find “interesting” rarely align.

I’ve come to think that I might have a tendency toward visual thinking,
though I’m not really sure if that’s what people mean by “visual dominance.”

Even now, when I recall memories from the past,
they return to me as images—
and I translate those images into words.
For me, “remembering” may be the act of replaying an image.
The image always comes first,
and within it, there is a certain temperature,
and the angle of the light.
