Koromogae — A Morning to Lighten the Season by One Layer

June 1st is known in Japan as koromogae, the seasonal change of clothing. It is more than simply switching clothes in a closet. It is a quiet way of adjusting our lives to the rhythm of the season. As we put away heavier garments and slip into lighter fabrics, a little space opens in the room — and perhaps in the heart as well.
