So Eric and Lyle Menendez's parole was denied by California board just a couple of days ago. I was frustrated, sad, but then I knew there were obstacles before their freedom…..like DA Nathan Hockman.
I really doubt if he studied this case. He is repeatedly calling them (Lyle and Erik) liars. He believes, or at least acts like he believes they were lying which if you actually studied this case, his claim is way off from the core issue of why this happened and why they acted how they acted.
And there was other stooopid stuff like Lyle was denied parole cuz he was using a "cellphone" in prison (probably sold by guards?)…….WTF?
Anyways, I was watching a youtube related to Menendez brothers afterwards and no, you should never read the comments section, but stupid me, I did, and I am fired up seeing how many heartless people who probably only "heard about this case" making ignorant comments about them.
Since English is my second language, it is hard for me to write about court system/ legal stuff. But I can, and want to, clarify answers for some of the comments that I see ALL THE TIME on Menendez brothers youtube comment sections.

My answer is NO, THEY SHOULD BE FREE!!! Yes, they murdered their parents. Very bad, I know. But they are also victims. You don't believe it? Well, watch both Erik and Lyle's testimony and SAY THAT AGAIN. I'll leave a link for your easy access. You HAVE TO watch the whole testimony. DO NOT make ANY heartless comments until you finish ALL OF THEM. ↓↓↓
If you still feel the same after watching the whole testimony, then YOU ARE the monster who have a total lack of empathy. sorry that you were born that way.

I have seen these type of comments soooooo many times (yes, I checked youtube comments, goddamn me!)
Imagine, you were locked in a basement for 20 years and being raped for 12 years…..you finally got a chance to defeat the rapist and get out from the basement…..can u imagine how free you would feel? (And don't forget, their father Jose was telling them he will kill them if they tell anybody about the abuse and he had the power to do that. No escape. They were also mind-controlled by this powerful highly-successful rapist monster)…..so they went overboard when enjoying their freedom afterwards, no surprise for me knowing what they had to deal with for such a long time.
Jose and Kitty were their parents, but that doesn't make them saints. It doesn't automatically give them and their kids a sacred connection. There are a lot of bad, bad parents. Trust me, I KNOW. I HAD ONE.

The answer is NO, THEY COULDN'T. Yes Lyle was away for a bit, but it was under Jose's 1984 surveillance. JUST REMEMBER, JOSE WAS A FUCKING POWERFUL MAN. And both Eric and Lyle were abused but at the same time they worshiped him just like a mind-controlled extreme cult. Erik had it worse. Jose's molestation had not stopped for Erik up until their execution. If you actually watch their testimony, you won't have this question but I assume you didn't so I'll tell you, ERIK WANTED TO LEAVE THE HOUSE. He wanted to move away from them when he graduated high school. But Jose said NO to Erik. Jose told him he(Erik) will be going to UCLA but commuting from their fucking house.
Just so you know, they were 18 and 21, but they were not allow to have their own house key. They were totally controlled by their parents. And they did not know how fucked up that was cuz they weren't even allowed to have friends. Total isolation. They were just born at the rich household which is another obstacle for this case.

You know, after the arrest, Erik and Lyle weren't gonna tell anybody about their sexual abuse cuz they were so, so, so ashamed and also, wanted to protect the great "Menendez" family reputation. They'd rather get locked up and get it over with than tell the world that they were sexually abused from their own father cuz you know, the world is full of victim blamers like youtube commentors who don't or don't wanna understand anything about victims and rather blame them.

Yes, They had this shitty therapist Jerome Oziel, but Jose made him sign a contract that anything Erik tells Oziel, should be reported to Jose. Talk about doctor-patient privilege. (rolling eyes)
