Threat Model
Digital security and public health threats evolve -- and so must we. Two weekly, inclusive newsletters cut through the disinfo and politics keep you informed; ongoing free resources keep you sharp and safe. I'm Violet Blue, and this is Threat Model. * Two inclusive, curated weekly newsletters: A cybersecurity and digital privacy news roundup on Tuesdays at 8:30am PST, and a roundup dedicated to the week's news and information on Covid-19 prevention, risks, discoveries, global and local snapshots, risk-assessment tools, and more (every Thursday, 8:30am PST). These are research-intensive, fact-checked, labor-intensive, and require an around the clock work cycle. * Dedication to accessibility. Both roundups remain free and never paywalled so their news and information, often critical or urgent information about personal safety (frequently from paywalled or 'signup required' sources), are accessible for all to read. Vital safety information, whether health or security, should not only be for those who can afford it. * One-off posts including covid safety guides, cybersecurity conference guides, covid mask reviews and Co2 monitor comparisons, online mental health wellness and support articles (in collaboration with mental health professionals), digital privacy guides, behind the scenes details about my reporting for major news outlets (including what doesn't make it into my articles), and more. * Research and drafts of my books, including behind the scenes on my upcoming book on Covid-19 in Aotearoa New Zealand. Depending on tier, you get access to private drafts and exclusive announcements, and become part of each book's community (always including pre-sale books and audiobooks). * Dedication to inclusivity in all aspects of coverage with an obsessive eye on how news developments, trends, and policy decisions impact LGBTQIA+, women, BIPOC, Indigenous, disabled, and everyone most at risk. * An author and reporter who grew up homeless and familyless, that has committed her life, writing, experience, influence, and heart to unearthing and amplifying accurate information, providing readers with practical and useful risk-assessment tools, changing conversations about privacy, security, Covid-19, and human sexuality to include equality, diversity, equity, and inclusiveness for all. * A place with resources, facts, and verifiable information to share with anyone who feels confused, gaslit, scared, unsafe, or is seeking solidarity and hope. Any level makes a meaningful difference in my life, and I thank you for reading this far. If you are unable to contribute at this time, I understand: please help spread the word about this resource and share widely, and often, if you are able and it is safe for you to do so. She is a veteran of the San Francisco HIV epidemic response, understanding policy interplay with medical and information resources, building community and knowledge from the ground up. Violet's roundups include various geographic and topical foci, and provide a running resource of updated medical and mediation material, everything vetted via her long experience as a health and tech reporter and researcher. And always, a personal take on the state of the pandemic response as a whole - how to bravely face the frightening news and events, and take hope and guide action from the work and achievements of the thousands of participants in the fight for health and sanity in a world gone inarguably mad. Violet's personal commitment in this struggle in the face of financial hardship and social isolation inspires her thousands of followers and readers every week. To stay safe. Stay sane. And to work toward a viable world on the other side of Covid-19." Stay apart, stand together, mask up, and stay strong. xo, Violet
