25.Feb.2005 TXRD (banked track not flat) SAVES TV!
The rumors are true! Beginning at our first regular-season bout on March 6, we will be filming for a new reality tv show that will air on A&E this fall! Here's the just-released A&E media announcement ...
"Working Title: ROLLER GIRLS: They are waitresses and school teachers, biologists and attorneys. Many are married. Some have children. They are also ex-homecoming queens starved for glamour and athletes looking for the adrenaline rush that comes from knocking someone over a railing. Some are rock’n’roll chicks just out for a good time, and they are all proud, strong women, in Austin, Texas - and they are united by that strangest and most unexpected of American of sports, Roller Derby.
"Exceptional women at the center of a growing national trend. ROLLER GIRLS will go inside the phenomenon that’s springing up in cities across the country. We will witness their grueling practices and training sessions. We will go behind the scenes as they celebrate each other’s triumphs, scheme payback against their rivals, race to the hospital to mend broken bones, and try to navigate their rocky personal lives. Nancy Dubuc is the A&E Executive Producer. Working Title: ROLLER GIRLS is produced by Go Go Luckey Productions, producers of 'Laguna Beach.'"
