Specialize or Generalize?

Do you specialize in something, like mining/smithing or farming/cooking, or do you try and do some of everything? I'm getting overwhelmed with my "daily chores" to maintain a lot of stuff in my shop.

I try to have only food items and a little bit of juwelry.
So I tend to the fields and animals and in the evening I go fishing and/or to the mine to stock up. Until now, this works pretty great.
And you don't have to open the shop if you feel like you don't have anything good to sell ;)
