Music and Audio stuck at 0%?
I hear the intro music just fine, but once I get to the menu there is no sound, the game also has no sound when I start a world. Audio is stuck at 0% no matter how many times I move the bar for both Music and Audio.

I have already changed the HZ from my default 24bit 48,000Hz to lower and even higher just to test and reopening the game, but no changes occur.

I just reinstalled the game and came back to it with no audio so I thought maybe it had soem corruption during the download, so I reinstalled the game twice and verified cache, I also deleted ShaderCache and the CFG files followed by Integrity Verification to obtain missing files.

I searched online and these were the steps that are usually associated with the fix from a similar issue in 2017, unfortunately it didn't fix my issue. I have Realtek High Definition Audio Speakers for my audio default.

UPDATE: We found the fix! Thanks for the help!

"We think the problem is caused by a bad X3DAudio file. Please give the directions below a try and see if it helps.
Download DirectX: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=8109
Run it to extract the files to a convenient folder so that it's ready to install
Find and delete C:\Windows\System32\X3DAudio1_7.dll and C:\Windows\SysWOW64\X3DAudio1_7.dll
Run the DirectX installer"

Hi, looks like you tried a lot of community solution so far and you may have a look at the Official website about sound problems :

Question for you :

-> Have you deleted all SE folders and files before reinstalling ?

If not, here is the Safe Steps :

Safe steps
Try fresh install of the game IF still not working :

1 - Backup Saves and Blueprints, copy/paste to USB storage key or else.
Saves and Blueprints are here :
Hit the Windows key + R and type in : %appdata%\SpaceEngineers
Goes to the SpaceEngineers folder
C: users / your username / appdata / roaming / spaceengineers

2 - Uninstall the game with Steam.
3 - Delete all remaining SE folders/files in the Steam folder.
4 - Delete all remaining SE folders/files in the appdata SE on your C: Drive.
5 - Restart PC.
6 - Install Space Engineers game.

Thanks for trying to help! Unfortunately it didn't seem to change anything, I reinstalled it twice, once flowing your steps and the second time because I actually forgot to restart my PC after installing VC++, 2013 and the latest 2015-and up from one of your links. I did also delete the files in AppData manually too.

I'm not sure what could be causing this at some point, my windows and GPU are also up to date. I also checked(just in case) if my audio was muting but seemed to be set as intended. Maybe there are some logs I can check.

Update: In the SpaceEngineers.CFG I set GameVolume and Music_Volume to 100, they were at 0, now when I start the game they show in the options as maxed out, but still no audio, I then changed the bar(now maxed) to somewhere in the middle and closed the game, this caused the values in both to reset to 0, looks like any modifications in the in-game settings resets the audio bar back to 0. Hopefully this helps us get closer to the cause!

Looks like something prevent the game from doing sound changes while in-game.

mmm try this, it helped another player recently (different problem), go to options and enable "Experimental" and load that Premade save I have published on the Workshop for the community to use.

It's Vanilla (no Mods/Scripts) Default experimental mode with my Fav survival world settings :

Thanks! I tested it, once when it started with volume at 0 and the second time after changing settings manually to 100 in the CFG file for audio and music. No sound unfortunatelly! Currently at 24bit 48,000Hz.

I really don't know why you don't have sound, well after doing all the important to no avail.

I'll say contact the ones working on the game, they may know something I don't.

Will do, thanks for all your help so far, it may just be something wrong with my PC, if I find a solution I will update in case someone goes through the same issue!
Is steam causing your window priority to change?

Not that I can see, but that gave me the idea to run the game .exe as admin, and then with windows 7 compatibility, no changes so far. I also ran it with steam overlay off in case that was it. The mute when minimized option is also checked off.

I also updated my 1060sc to 526.86, apparently there WAS an update after all, but sadly that hasn't fixed the issue yet.

I also tried opting in for some beta versions, including the latest ones to test, same issue.

I also tried changing from my speakers connected to my motherboard, into headphones connected to my monitor via DisplayPort Cable. Same issue so far.

Do you use the windows "system tray" based selector to change your audio device?

Some things you typed make me think you are using custom audio drivers which may be the problem.

Yep I think so, this is what my Sound menu looks like. https://i.gyazo.com/e14ffce32bf91605e7c684f543edd616.gif

My work process for messing with audio is to right-click the sound icon in my taskbar, I click "Open Sound Settings" and finally I go to "Sound Control panel". Probably a better way to do it but that is more or less what I did.

Also I know this is extra but just in case it helps, I just tested Space Engineers via streaming with Nvidia NOW, all sound worked on the streamed version, although I suspected that would be the case, just did it to troubleshoot the issue on this machine.

UPDATE: You know what else I just noticed? You know how the sound bar in the sound option in windows 10 shows a graphic representing of how loud the audio is? The intro music and video set off the effect, since I can also hear the music but when the audio dissapears in the menu and in the game there is no green effect, as if there was no audio playing at all in addition to not being able to hear it.
