AERENA - Masters Edition

AERENA - Masters Edition

To all Aerena players!
This thread is rather important for everybody owning a game from us:
http://steamcommunity.com/app/267750/discussions/0/618463106380847195/
this is just a first statement, we will uptate you with more info as the situation develops.

Long story short, the game servers for all our games will stay online, no matter what happens to the company that made the games.

Of course this is no guarantee for everlasting availability, because the fate of the company that now pays for the servers is still to be decided, but that is another story and the next few weeks will show what can be done to ensure a long life for Aerena and Shadowrun.

I think one thing that you can take away from Primetide's post is that no matter what happens to us developers right now, one of our top priorities will still be to keep everything online and playable.

As you can imagine, there won't be any more updates for Aerena.
Yes, more Champs would be awesome and we really wanted to have all factions complete with 3 Champions, but unfortunately the financial success of Aerena or the lack of it also plays a role in the whole situation. If you read this, you will probably be one of the contributors, a person who helped to carry Aerena as far as we were able to develop it.
To all of you I'd like to send out my personal thanks, it was a wonderful journey and I hope everybody was able to enjoy these special Aerena moments, a close well earned victory over a higher ranked player, a match where you got your ♥♥♥ whipped but also learned so much at the same time or this very special moment, when you thought a plan comes together and your opponents' plan turns out to perfectly counter your strategy in only one turn.

For the future of this game, a game that is so very dear to me, and even more its creators who might not be as visible here, I can only tell you what I have been trying to do:
If everything that happened doesn't affect what we have agreed upon with a promo partner, there will be a rather big push for Aerena user numbers within June. Aerena might also be part of another little bundle and after this I will have to evaluate what else can be done to enable a healhy player base.

Right now I can only once more point out the newly created Aerena Wedesday.
I hope this will become a frequent meeting point for Aerena players of all skill tiers.

If you have any questions about all this, please feel free to ask!

Once more I'd like to thank the awesome Aerena community and our forum moderators!
Without you guys the Masters Edition would never have happened!

On a personal note, I'd like to add that even though the communication here in the forums had been part of my job, it was always the best part of my day to read and write in these forums. If everything works out as I hope it will, I will be able to continue to speak for the game.

And by the way, the next Champion would have been a healer!

Thanks for being a good CM and encouraging Player groups. I have seen MUCH worse, and if Cliffhanger Filed it was not from lack of heart. Out of intrest, do you think that you will find anouther job in the industry?

To other players:
At this point, the best thing we can do is carry on. Play Ærena (at this point that alt code is on instinct) regularly, and try and get thers to join the ranks. LEt's try to continue some sort of weekly event, and keep up rewards (probably in the way of supreme bragging rights at this point) But the wrong action is to just forget. If you enjoied it, play it still, and find new people. It may be too late for cliffhanger, but not for the next crew. If we can show them that Ærena can make money, we can drive for more updates, sales, and advertisments. Eventually, hopefully, it could get picked up by a large publisher (or make a large publisher) and turn into a continuing online game.

Aerena would not be the same experience without loquee. personally, he is the best community manager I've come across in all of my days of gaming, a lot of dedication and hours he spent with the community. :happycrank: ....and I still have nightmares from when he utterly destroyed me on Mount Whitney. :aurora:

I have made a lot of friends throughout playing Aerena, and have faced some of the best tactical players, we all had our own rivalries and many back and forths during nights. It was a great community, and I'm sure some of the true veterans will return to give it one more go in the arena. :Arberrang:
well thats a real sad news

Aerena is one of the most fun games of my library, and so far i dont play it as often as before, its a title i would always log back for some matches. with Shadowrun release, i really though things would get better for you guys studio, but im sorry it didnt turned out the way it need to happen.

the gamming industry is changing super fast, just like tv and many other old medias, and you guys unfortunatly are exatcly on the eye of the storm. ive been there too (on broadcast industry) and all i can say is that everything find its way

all in all, you guys probably made an amazing folio for each one there, and i would like to see aerena raising again when the industry get back on its knee

good luck on you guys personal journeys from now on, and hope you guys be proud of what you accomplish, no matter what the businessman tells you

A pity, for us players and of course the developers! I hope that the playerbase will increase due to the mentioned upcoming things (although I usually found at least one game every time).

I have not played Aerena that often, but I like the more simple approach - although I am not good in it :-), even after some hours. I mostly played the P2P version, but recently switched to the Masters Edition (via a bundle *cough* and I thought you'll get your shillings a bit faster there...).
Thanks everybody :)

I reduced all Shilling prices now for both the f2p version and the Masters Edition.

There will be 2000 Shilling coupons for the next 4-5 Wednesdays, they follow the usual pattern ;)

I hope players will return and this game grow up again. I love this game and comunity around this game. It cant over. If they made this game open source I would develop some inteligence to computer and make some imposible missons :)

Thx loquee for everything what you did for this comunity. You are great man!
I hope the best for everyone involved in making and playing this game, it truly was one of the best games I've played. Glad to have met everyone I have through this and wish everyone the best of luck in all future endeavors. Thank you loquee for being the ebst community manager I've ever interacted with. I'm :marysad: that it has to end.
:aetherup::corpangry::aethercoin::angrycrank::aurora::happycrank:
You know I haden't even heard of the Aerena Wednsdays thing, I could do something with that :)
That would be great Skuggi!

thanks GetSchmittOn, it was easy with such a nice community :squirtyay:
As a founding member I am sad to read this. But am so pleased that the information was shared with us in a straight forwad manner. We will have to wait and see what the future brings.
Still got back into Aerena after some busy real life stuff. Its sad to see this but I hope we can somehow keep this gem of a game alive. Maybe find a way to contribute to server costs, something like monthly subscription. Besides, It would be good to create a special steam group for Aerena players to gather, somekind of aerena gaming community, so we would be able to start events every night (that what we use to fill out tf2 server, running events every night). Anyways, I feel we, the players should do something too.

@loquee btw. Is it possible to thro events on Wednesdays so they could pop up from our steam client?
★R'R★ Floyd - yes, I'll create these events for the near future!
So is dev worked perminately stopped, or is it on hiatus, while captial improves?
I'm sorry to hear it, though the writing was on the wall. The last few times I tried to play Aerena I couldn't get a game due to the low population :( It was one of the best tactical games out there, a cut above TAO and a few other pvp options. It's sad that tactical games like this are simply not as popular as other pvp games out there.

You guys did your best and I was proud to be part of the community, I still rock out my Aerena sweatshirt!

NaZ
Thanks NaZ :)

Alexandra, as far as I know, there will be no more work and no more updates for Aerena.
The remaining people work on Shadowrun stuff, since this is what makes sense financially and pays for the aerena servers as well.
