About Product diagnostics

Product diagnostics improve the quality of your product data by providing insights on which products can show in ads and which can’t, helping to make it easier to determine which products need your attention. Product statuses are available at the account, campaign, listing group, and ad group levels. This article explains the possible product statuses that may appear, what they mean, and how to address them.

Important: When viewing product diagnostics for a specific campaign, you’ll only find information about products that are included in that campaign. At the account level, you can find product information for all of your campaigns using product data.

Check Diagnostics of your products

To find which of your products can show in ads and which can’t, you’ll need to navigate to the “Diagnostics” tab to assess all of your products and their statuses. Below are step-by-step instructions on how to get to the “Diagnostics” tab.

  1. Go to Products within the Campaigns menu Campaigns Icon.
  2. Select the Diagnostics tab.
Note: While the “Diagnostics” page provides a thorough breakdown of product statuses, you can find the status for each individual product in the “Product status” column under the “Products' subtab”.

About product statuses

On the “Diagnostics” page, you’ll find a detailed report of all of your products’ statuses, including "Eligible", "Eligible (Limited)", and "Not Eligible". These statuses are available at the account, campaign, listing group, and ad group levels. Use the information below to understand your product statuses, then check the “Issues” column in your Products table to find the underlying cause and instructions for addressing any concerns.

Eligible

Products with Eligible status are active and ready to show in ads. No further action is required.

Eligible (limited)

These products comply with our policies, however they’re experiencing limited performance. The limited performance could be due to missing product attributes, campaign settings that could be improved, or restricted content which limits where and when the product can be displayed.

Solution: To improve performance for Eligible (Limited) products, review the Product issues column for suggestions like fixing missing attributes or adjusting bids. Learn more about product issues.

Not eligible

The "Not eligible" status can indicate different issues, depending on whether you're viewing the product status column at the account level or the campaign, and ad group level. Refer to the tables below to learn more about what issues the status may point to at each level.

Issues causing the “Not eligible” status at all levels

Most product-level issues can be resolved directly within your Merchant Center account. Learn more about issues in Merchant Center.

Issue Solution
Policy violations: If an item violates Shopping ads policies, it must be approved before it can serve. Review the "Needs attention" page to identify the specific policy and required actions.
Pause [pause] products: This status appears because you have manually paused these products. Remove the Pause [pause] attribute from your product data.
Product availability: The product is out of stock. Ensure your products availability [availability] attribute is set to in stock [in_stock] as soon as the item is available for purchase.
