If you’re a creator or publisher who posts on platforms like Instagram, TikTok, X, and YouTube, you can use Search Console to monitor how people find your content when searching on Google.
You can create platform properties to view reports for your content performance on Google Search, as well as News and Discover if your content appears there. To get started, add each account or channel as its own property to track its performance data.
Supported platforms
Search Console supports the following platforms:
- TikTok
- X
- YouTube
Setting up your platform property
To track your content’s performance on supported platforms, you must add it as a property in your Search Console account.
- Go to the Search Console welcome screen to add a property, or open the property selector dropdown in the sidebar and click Add property.
- Click Add next to the platform you want to add from the list of supported options and follow the prompts.
- Once ownership is verified, you’ll see a confirmation message. Click Go to property to complete setup. It will take a few days for data to appear in the reports.
If you have accounts across multiple platforms (like Instagram, TikTok, and X), or manage more than one profile on a single platform, be sure to repeat this process to create a platform property for each one.
Keeping your connection active
For security, ownership is periodically checked. If your connection is lost, either because an external login expired, access to your platform property will pause until you re-verify. Once you re-verify, you get access to the same report and you don't need to wait for data to accumulate.
What you can track
Platform properties provide data on content performance and traffic trends. Data is reported for each property so you can track your Instagram, TikTok, X, and YouTube content independently.
About the data
To help you understand your metrics, here are some examples of how Search Console handles specific types of platform property content and search interactions:
- Instagram stories: When your Instagram stories show up in Google search they’re counted as impressions. If a story appears in search results and a user clicks it, it’s counted as a click.
- Videos played on Google: When your video content appears in search results or Discover, it counts as an impression. If a user clicks it, it counts as a click. Note that even if that click opens the video inside the Google viewer, a click will be added in Search Console.
Platform property reports
Platform properties focus on reporting performance and traffic insights.
- Performance report: View total clicks, impressions, average click-through rate (CTR), and average search position for your selected property. You can filter this data to see which specific posts drive the most traffic across Google Search, Discover, and Google News.
- Note: Discover and Google News reports only appear if your content receives traffic from those surfaces.
- Insights report: View a high-level overview of your recent traffic trends, top-performing content, and how people discover your platform content on Google Search.
- Note: On the Insights page, the top summary card shows all clicks to your property across Google (including web, image, video, and news searches). However, the detailed lists below the summary card focus specifically on traffic from web search results. Because of this, the total from specific cards might be lower than the number shown in the main summary card.
- Achievements: Track your growth, milestones, and click-based accomplishments (like hitting a new target for total clicks from Search) as you build your audience.
Data availability and reporting baselines

Default date range
The default date range for both the Insights page and the Performance report is set to 28 days by default.
New properties
-
No data yet: If you recently added your property, you might see empty charts. It takes a few days to collect and process performance metrics after setup.
-
Partial data: If your property was created recently, your charts will only show data for the days since collection started.
