Welcome New Subscribers!
Thank you to the existing subscribers for sticking around and thanks to all new subscribers!
A 10k, for those in the US, is a 10-kilometer run. Its a typical run-race distance in Canada. Think of it like a ¼ of a Marathon. It may also refer to $10,000. Again, in the US, that would convert to $13,913 Canadian. Wow, its more. Nope. It would take $13,913 of my CAD to get 10k of your USD. Its less. (Sad face)
2026 College Summer Leagues
Some more summer leagues added.
11 Summer Leagues added for 2026. More on the way.
Transactions Cleanup
Player transactions are taken (mostly) directly from official MLB/MiLB transaction logs. That source is imperfect but its the best we have. But we’re all imperfect, amiright? I try to do some self-help on the transactions. Some wellness if you will. At least lately.
So each morning, I clean up about 100 players for various quirks of the transactional data. Duplicate transactions. Missing explanations for change of team. Maybe a missing position or draft record. There’s a few things I look for.
College Commitments
An interesting section within the Player Notes of a player’s page is where the player had intended to play College Ball had he not been drafted. I recently added college commitments for the 2025 and 2026 High School picks that signed. If a player doth not signed, then he doth not forwent his college commitment.
Incidentally, the player notes section will be beefed up soon with some GI. GI = Gary Intelligence. Writing an algorithm to build a player’s career into text for the search engines to consume and for you to read to get an interesting summary of a player’s career. This is still in beta and not available yet but I’ll push it live relatively soon.
Data Store
The data store was updated for a new look. Now, when I say a “new look”, notice how I never say “better”. My skills are not in design. In fact, I’m not really sure what my skills are other than brute force hard work. Plus I type really fast (114wpm). Anyways, Product categories are now at the top and they group products together by category. Click the product and it will throw you down to the bottom of the page where you can read more about it as well as see screenshots. You can still request Custom data.
Player Tracker
The TBC Player Tracker’s Player Search section now allows to search by full name instead of last name. Using last name caused popular last names to exclude rookie league players who were after the 150 player limit. So its easier now. Quicker. More efficient. Dare I say Better?
I’m toying with the idea of releasing the Player Tracker email to all subscribers. I’ll be building out a new email this off-season. Maybe will run a test at the beginning of the 2027.
Baseball Cards
Added 2025 Bowman Draft to the Baseball Cards section. Also don’t forget about the TBC Baseball Card Store. Whether you’re a collector or want to become one, the store is slowly being curated towards only relevant and interesting cards.
Great Baseball Names
ESPN Simpson - Actually, its Espn. Played for Cal State San Marcos in 2026. Hoping he gets paid to promote the sports network.
Wonderful Monds - Wonderful Terrific Monds to be precise. Spreading joy wherever he goes! Oh and he did have a 7 year minor league career, batting .281 with lots of stolen bases.
Rusty Filter - Current Head Coach of Santa Clara in the WCC. An expected outcome of a visit to your mechanic.
TBC Newspaper
The TBC Newspaper is a great way to get your daily boxscores injected directly into your veins like an IV. Like the old newspaper summary pages. But baseball only.
Did you know it had a few additional features available to TBC PREMIUM subscribers?

Observations in the Baseball World
Jackson Olson of the Savannah Bananas is on Dancing with the Stars. DWTS pairs celebrities with professional dancers and has America vote on who gets eliminated each week. As far as I know, he’s the first baseball player on the show.
2 Universities have changed their names. The University of New Orleans is now LSU New Orleans. New Jersey City University is now Kean Jersey City. Both schools sponsor baseball and the changes will be on the site soon. Both new names sound really cool.
Juan Soto had 38 stolen bases in 2025 but hasn’t had more than 12 in any other season. He has 9 this year. How and why does this happen? Can you believe he’s only 27?
Thomas Pannone threw a AAA perfect game for the Nashville Sounds on September 7. He threw only 94 pitches.
According to Baseball America, Josuar Gonzalez has the potential to be a #1 overall prospect. Gonzalez signed for $3m in 2025 and is currently with the Giants Low A San Jose Giants. He’s slashing .351/.447/.544/ in 2026.
Some things that I struggle with:
Spelling Cincinnati
Putting a USB charger in the correct way
Pushing a door instead of pulling
Having my phone right-side up when I try to do face-id.
Dropping a baseball card and not having it hit a corner when it lands.
Folding a fitted sheet.
Sensibility and No Sense
These people are sensible. They work 9 to 5. After supper, they walk with their partner. With their dog. Pushing a stroller. Alone. Taking it easy. Relaxing. Smelling the roses. They talk to neighbours. Make small talk. They check the forecast. They carry an umbrella. They dress to the weather. They take no chances.
I am not sensible. I run. I don’t speed walk. I don’t jog for 2 miles. I run far. I run to different neighbourhoods. Across cross streets. Boulevards. I hold my hand up when I stop traffic. I run on busy narrow roads. I run on 1-lane highways. I run through shopping center parking lots. Through parks. I run on dirt roads. Trails. I run steep inclines and steep declines.
I push myself. I challenge myself. And I say this in the most gloating way I can…I try to destroy myself. I want to feel broken when I get home. I want to feel like I have nothing left. I want the tank to feel empty.
10km is 6.21371 miles. Its a Canadian standard for road racing. 5k or 10k. Its ¼ of a marathon. ½ of a Half-marathon. Its a half-half marathon. I ran three of them this week. When I returned from softball Nationals in Alberta, I decided to stop snacking. No more sugar. I made rules for myself. I followed them. I am not sensible.
I began to slowly increase my running distance. I failed learned on the first 3-4 runs as I ran out of steam after a few ks. And then I was running 5km without issue. Then 6. Then 7. Then one day I went out and said, here’s where I am going to go. And that’s where I went. I went down that narrow country road with no place for joggers to go. I went onto the country highway. I turned down the long road towards the center of town. I ran past the skate park. The senior English elementary school. The French school. The Community Center. The Arena. The Outdoor ball-hockey rinks (I’m in Canada eh). I ran up a hill. And then back to suburbia where i fought every part of my sensible brain that told me to stop. I just kept going. I kept going until I got into the woods and ran the last kilometer through the trail that led to my house. Weaving through raised roots and horse marks in soft sand. I serpentined the last few steps until the clearing in the dead end of my street and I, yes, remember, I am not sensible, I SPRINTED the last 50 steps to my driveway before a controlled collapse onto my front steps.
And this is why I sometimes feel like I don’t fit into this world. The people who are sensible look at me and they shake their head. “Why?” their eyes say. Why do you run far when you can just walk gently and get good exercise. Why do you not relax and watch tv at night instead of working on your web site or your Baseball Card store. Why are you not sensible?
You’ve seen the website. I go big. I’m not sensible.
