Bus Driver Caught with Fake Urine Vial, Attempts to Drink Evidence During Drug Test in Sri Racha

Sri Racha, Chonburi – Thai authorities arrested a 57-year-old public bus driver after he was caught attempting to cheat a random urine drug test by using fake urine and trying to swallow the evidence. A later search of his vehicle uncovered methamphetamine (“ice”) and drug paraphernalia.

The incident occurred around 1:30 PM on Friday, May 29th, 2026, during a joint operation by the Sri Racha District Administration, the Provincial Land Transport Office, and Public Health officials. The crackdown was ordered under a Ministry of Interior directive to combat drug use among public transport drivers and enhance road safety for passengers.

Officials tested nearly 20 bus drivers. Suspicion fell on Mr. Srisit Horai Khuntod, a driver on the Sri Racha–Bangkok route, who appeared nervous and evasive. When taken for a urine test, he claimed he could not urinate. After being given water and waiting over 10 minutes, officers noticed suspicious behavior.

A body search revealed a small bottle resembling an eye-drop container, filled with yellow liquid, which fell from his waistband. Srisit tried to kick the bottle toward a trash bin to hide it. When officers picked it up, he lunged to grab it and attempted to drink the contents to destroy the evidence. Officers recovered the bottle.

Srisit later admitted the liquid was a mixture of dark soda and water intended to substitute for his own urine. Under further questioning, he confessed to having used methamphetamine three days earlier. His urine test returned positive.

Authorities then inspected the bus he had claimed was under repair. A tuk-tuk driver had alerted them to an idling bus nearby. The company manager also confirmed it was Srisit’s vehicle. Inside, near the driver’s seat, officers found a pipe and lighter used for drug consumption. Confronted with the items, Srisit admitted ownership and led officers to a black cloth bag containing approximately 1 gram of methamphetamine in a white packet, along with additional drug paraphernalia.

Srisit was arrested and charged with possession and consumption of Category 1 narcotics. He has been handed over to police for legal proceedings. The Land Transport Office is expected to revoke his public driving license.

The bus company immediately terminated his employment.

The operation shows ongoing efforts by Chonburi Governor Naris Niramaiwong and Si Racha District Chief Phattharachanan Phongphat to ensure the safety of public transport users amid heightened anti-drug campaigns.
