Pattaya, Thailand– On the afternoon of Monday, July 6th, 2026, Kiattisak Sriwongchai, Pattaya City Clerk acting as Mayor, personally inspected ongoing work to dredge drainage pipes in front of The Yaimak Market in Jomtien.
Accompanied by engineers and staff from the Pattaya City Sanitation and Engineering Division, the inspection followed severe flooding in the Jomtien beach area after heavy rainfall recently. Officials responded swiftly by conducting an urgent survey of the local drainage system.

Initial findings revealed significant sediment buildup inside the drainage pipes. The affected pipes, approximately 2 meters deep, contained roughly 90 centimeters of accumulated silt and dirt, severely restricting water flow and contributing to the flooding.
Acting Mayor Kiattisak ordered immediate dredging operations along the affected pipeline, which runs nearly 2 kilometers and connects to the Nong Phrong intersection. The work is expected to take approximately three days to complete.

This is to restore and enhance the efficiency of the drainage system, thereby reducing the risk of future flooding in the Jomtien area during the rainy season.
The operation is being carried out by Pattaya City’s engineering teams as part of ongoing infrastructure maintenance efforts.
