Banglamung District and Pattaya City Launch Second “Pattaya Smile Thai Community Market” to Ease Cost of Living and Boost Grassroots Economy

Pattaya, Thailand – July 10th, 2026

Banglamung District, along with Pattaya City, officially opened the second edition of the “Pattaya Smile Thai Community Market” on Friday, hoping to help residents cope with rising living costs while supporting local producers and stimulating the community-based economy.

Mr. Anusak Piriyomron, Chief District Officer of Banglamung, led the opening ceremony. He was joined by Ms. Panrada Atthohi, Deputy City Clerk of Pattaya, along with heads of government agencies, local vendors, residents, and relevant parties. The event took place on the open ground in front of Building 2 at Pattaya City Hall.

The market provides a platform for local entrepreneurs, community enterprises, and producers to sell high-quality essential goods at affordable prices. Items on offer include fresh and cooked food, chemical-free vegetables, herbs, fresh eggs, and household products such as laundry detergent, fabric softener, and dishwashing liquid. This allows residents to purchase quality products at reasonable prices, helping to reduce household expenses while generating income and expanding market opportunities for local businesses.

The activity supports Chonburi Province’s urgent policy agenda to improve people’s quality of life, strengthen community economies, promote local identity, and stimulate tourism-related economic activity at the grassroots level. It follows the guiding principle of “reduce expenses, increase income” through close cooperation between Banglamung District and local administrative organizations.

Special discounted prices were available throughout the event, including:
– White sugar: 20 baht per pack
– Grade 3 eggs: 89 baht per tray
– Jade vegetable oil (1 liter): 40 baht
– Fabric softener (3.8 liters): 75 baht
– Laundry detergent (3.8 liters): 85 baht
– Dishwashing liquid (3.8 liters): 75 baht
– Fresh white shrimp (38–40 pieces/kg): 189 baht per kilogram

Additional products from partner shops and local vendors were also offered at reduced rates.

Banglamung District and Pattaya City have invited residents to support the “Pattaya Smile Thai Community Market” under the concept “Shop Smart, Help the Community, Buy Quality Goods at Affordable Prices.” The market will be held regularly on the second Friday of every month at Pattaya City Hall, with the goal of sustainably driving community economies, creating income for local entrepreneurs, and enhancing residents’ quality of life.
