New Phuket Governor Leads Aerial Survey of Public Land and Environmental Management

Phuket

Phuket Governor Chotnarin Kedsom, accompanied by Vice Admiral Weerudom Muangjeen, Commander of the Royal Thai Navy’s Third Area Command, and Deputy Governor Pol. Lt. Col. Khetarat Chansilp, conducted an aerial survey across the island to assess coastal, forest, and public land conditions. The mission, supported by naval aircraft, was to gather comprehensive geographic data to guide provincial planning, environmental management, and infrastructure development.

The inspection covered beaches, forested hills, public spaces, waste management sites, construction areas, and transport networks. The initiative aligns with directives from Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, who has instructed provincial administrations nationwide to intensify oversight of public land, natural resources, and coastal zones. The government’s policy focuses on balancing economic growth and tourism with environmental conservation and long-term sustainability.

During the mission, the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) of Phuket, along with relevant agencies, provided situational briefings on land use, public space management, natural resource protection, and security concerns. These insights will serve as a foundation for integrated decision-making and inter-agency cooperation.

Governor Chotnarin stated that the findings will be used to strengthen Phuket’s governance framework, focusing on:

  • Protecting public land and forest reserves
  • Ensuring orderly beach management
  • Improving waste disposal and environmental safeguards
  • Expanding infrastructure and transport systems

The province wants to enhance residents’ quality of life, reinforce tourist confidence, and promote balanced, sustainable development. This aerial survey marks a proactive step in aligning local administration with national policy priorities, positioning Phuket as a model for integrated environmental and economic management.
