Police in Patong conducted a targeted operation at Ban San Fresh Market, leading to the arrest of seven Myanmar nationals accused of working illegally and violating Thailand’s foreign business laws.
Officers inspected stalls and businesses within the market, focusing on suspected illegal labor activity. Among those arrested were:
- Ngwe Thein (51), charged with working without a work permit.
- Nu Nu Win (50), accused of operating a business without authorization under the Foreign Business Act of 1999 and failing to register foreign workers. Police seized her mobile phone and a PromptPay QR code linked to her account.
- Si Si Mon (40), charged with working without a work permit and failing to notify authorities of her employer and workplace.
- Zin Mar Win (35), charged with working illegally.
- Aye Thiri Soe (21), accused of working without a permit and failing to notify authorities of employment details.
- Ei Ei Pan (23), facing similar charges of illegal employment and failure to notify.
- Phyu Phyu Win (37), accused of running a vegetable stall without authorization under the Foreign Business Act and failing to register foreign workers. Police seized her Oppo mobile phone.
Authorities confirmed that all seven suspects were taken into custody and handed over to investigators at Patong Police Station for legal proceedings.
