WELCOME\\ So. It seems that you have made it to my icon journal, vinyldaiquiri. Why vinyldaiquiri? Because it's unique, unrealistic, and totally... crazy. Why would you ever drink a vinyldaiquiri... I ask you. Anyway, I make icons out of anything. People post bases in their LJ's, and say that anyone can use them. So I use some of them. I make serious icons, funny icons, Harry Potter (books or fandom), I can make basically anything. I can make them out of anything, any picture, I just do them when inspiration strikes. I also have recently started making different layouts. They won't come as often as icons, but they'll be there. Enjoy!

RULES\\ [1] There will be no stealing of my icons. Though I realize that they aren't wonderful icons, I would like to be credited. Just put 'vinyldaiquiri' in the keywords.
[2] Please comment to tell me that you've taken them. Tell me which one, and I'll be happy.
[3] NOTE : If I find out that someone has stolen any of my icons, I will be forced to chase after you with an eggbeater, and do highly imaginitive things to you with said eggbeater. You have been warned.
[4] Please don't claim my icons as your own. You never know if it will get back to me, and if it does, you have to face the wrath of the mighty eggbeater. So watch out.
[5] Don't ask, just tell me that you've taken them.
[6] Requests are accepted. As are personalized icons. I enjoy putting text on icons without any text.
[7] When I do a layout, I will tell you what pictures you need so save to your own server, and where to put them. I recently almost went over my bandwidth on photobucket, and I'd rather stay under it, thank you.

OTHER STUFF\\ I use Photoshop 7. I haven't yet figured out Image Ready, so I'm not animating icons at the moment.

So I've switched journals! It seems fine to me, since a lot of people don't visit here anymore (probably due to my lack of posting). But it is far more convenient for me. I'll update soon. Please add my new journal/community!

giant icon post

I made a TON of Harry Potter icons (in honor of the summer of Harry Potter), and they are still coming. But rather than attack you with tons and millions of icons, I thought I would take it slow. There's a few (very few) that are not HP, and actually use a new effect that I kind of thought was cool, but they're really just my experimentations with the effect. Enjoy!

I'm going to update soon, I got this whole influx of things that I want to do, and it's all written down. I'm working on an entire batch of all Harry Potter, in honor of the summer of Harry Potter, considering that it's the final book and the fifth movie. And I am a dork, so there. Expect it soon, and feel free to bitch at me within a week.

Apparently I am on an icon making spree right now. Lot's of Harry Potter, all from movies, some of them are completely different from ones that I usually do. Especially the Luna Lovegood one. It might be the favortie one that I did this time, even though Luna is not my favorite character.

All of them are fairly simple, almost none of them have any pictures whatsoever. Many, many, Grey's Anatomy, because I pretty much love that show to death.

I posted this a while ago, but there were a bunch of requests that I re-upload it because it got deleted. It happens. Here's the link, but I'm not sure how long it's going to stay up. on YouSendIt it is 7 days or 25 downloads, I guess. So someone comment if they can't download it and I will re-upload it. Do you need instructions to load it? some of them are unnessecary I found when I uploaded it, but you can pretty much pick which one you want to be which mood. BUt I have labled them. For instance, "depressed" is the same picture as "sad". Get it?

I am in the midst of making some random icons, quite simple, using random quotes and things from movies. So does anyone have a favorite movie/tv/random quote that they would like me to use? Or maybe just one that you could care less if I used, but you think it's a very good quote, funny or whatnot? I have three so far, all from "Elf".

These might very well be the last for a while. My computer has a virus, I may end up with a new computer, or with my harddrive wiped, or something of the kind. So, right now, I am not expecting to be able to make any new icons. Unfourtunately. I'm in the process of saving everythign taht I need to keep on my computer on CDs, and it's irritating me. Ah well. The moral of the story is... Don't open links on AIM unless you know that that person meant to send it. I feel like such a dumbass about it. Gah.

Oh, my dear. I have updated. I have been busy, trying out new techniques and such. I've been looking on a ton of icon tutorial websites, checking out the best ways to lighten things, and I think I have progressed far. Take a look!

First ever tutorial! I'll probably use this one as a base in a future icon, but I hope this basic tutorial helps any of those fledgeling icon makers who are just starting out like I was.I took the image from _tehcaps, cropped it, and resized it. I entered into stickettes's icontest. The idea was that you had to take a miinty_sticks drawing, and make it into an icon that works for one of the movies. I made these four. And I also have some others that I have been working on. Teasers: ( here be the icons Collapse ) I made a lot more, but couldn't get the coloring right. So it's back to the drawing board with that one. I guess I may have to ask around on some communities how they get some of the coloring right. le sigh I hope this was satisfying.

I have seven more. There are more on the way, I got inspired by Wicked. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. Numbers 1 and 2 are just some random HP ones. I can't take all the credit for these: Someone else made one almost exaclty like it (the ravenclaw one), but I changed theirs around a little bit, and used a different picture. I also made a Slytherin one, and fully intended to make one for Hufflepuff and Gryffindor, but I coulnd't think of anything to say for it. So here you go. Numbers 4, 5, and 6 I made when I was looking through pictures on the wicked website. I enjoyed it. The one with Elphaba amused me, I did a new effect on the words "No Good Deed", and put smaller text in the middle of those words. It says "Eleka Nahmen Nahmen Atum Atum Eleka Nahmen". So it's one of the songs. I enjoyed the Wicked ones. I plan to make one for "Popular" and "For Good" and then for whatever else I get the urge to make. And appluase for angeleyesjg24, because I saw this icon at madlori's journal, and have decided that it's my favorite ever.

So, because I am a Harry Potter freak myself: Some of these are old favorites, and some are brand new. Most of the drawings are from Marta. The others are screen caps from Prisoner of Azkaban. And the first one... well, that's just be being obsessive.

SO I did an icon about two entries ago that was a Prisoner of Azkaban, but I was told that it was difficult to see. SO I solved the problem. It's a lot lighter. So I'm re-posting it, as an improved icon. Feel free to compare the two of them. I like it better, don't you?

Yes way! I'm posting directly from www.photobucket.com. Nifty, huh? I thought I would try it out. A few new icons. ( When I see depressing creatures with unpreposessing features...Collapse ) EDIT: It turns out that posting from Photobucket screw up everything. It had a whole bunch of funky spacing that shouldn't have been there. Ah well. It was a nice thought.
