Update May 3, 2005 - Season opener
scheduled for Saturday May 7th - Beech Bend Park to be open from
10:00 AM to 6:00 PM . . . .
Update January 26, 2005 - Wild Mouse
Coaster is coming back to Beech Bend in 2005. The famous signature
ride that got its fame at Beech Bend in the 60's and early 70's is
coming back for the 2005 season. This newer, high tech version
will be constructed of steel and will give riders the illusion of
falling over the edge and then when you least expect it, the "Mouse"
car will spin wildly. So it's the "Wild Mouse" with a twist.
The Wild Mouse Spinning Coaster is being constructed by Zamperla
Rides and is planned to open Memorial Day Weekend!
Also new for
2005 are antique, tin lizzie type cars. The new roadway for
the ride is nearly complete. The cars are being manufactured
by Gould and should be delivered in April. The ride is
scheduled to open May 7, 2005.
Can it be? Rumor or fact - Dallas
Jones and family spotted at IAAPA in Orlando (early November)
meeting and "shaking hands" with Major Coaster manufacturer "Great
Coasters International" - click on picture at right to enlarge.
Is there room for such a big coaster? The internet is buzzing
with the special effect that originated in Long Island, New York
(and is now gone)- can it still be replicated - the "plane ride" - the only one of its
kind - when and "if" it will come in - how big is it - and where
will it go?
Update November 30, 2004 - Yes Yes Yes
and more Yes . . . the giant wooden coaster IS COMING and based on
current projections - to be completed by 2006 . . . details to follow
