Merry Christmas
Mom died in 2001. I gave a ring of Mom's to my aunt. My aunt called today to tell me that for several days the ring had been uncomfortable, as if it were pinching her finger, and then it disappeared. She looked everywhere for it but couldn't find it and was upset because she never takes it off and can't imagine how it came off her finger. She also said she's been having trouble getting into the Christmas spirit and she's just been really depressed.
Today her husband complained about the fact that they don't have a Christmas tree up so she got out a ceramic Christmas tree my mother had made for her years ago. She noticed it was kind of dirty and decided to wash it. When she was drying it she turned it upside down. She'd never looked at the bottom of it before, in all these years. It said, "To Pinki with love, Sandi." She stood and cried over having found this and after she got done yelling and screaming a bit (she's still really angry about my Mom's death) it suddenly occurred to her that she hadn't looked in the bed for the ring. She walked towards the bedroom and before she even entered the room she could see the ring on the bed, she didn't have to move anything--it was laying right there. She told me that she felt like this was my Mom's way of telling her "Merry Christmas."
