The Comet Caper
Purchase options and add-ons
A runaway comet. A falling space station. And a crew of kids who are the only hope left.
When a comet sweeps far too close to Space Station Oberon, the impact knocks out communication and traps the adults on one side of the station and the kids on the other. Worse, the collision has knocked the space station out of orbit. Oberon is plunging toward the planet Gyris and it will burn up in the atmosphere long before help can arrive.
Locked out of the main flight deck and stuck in detention, Hal Junior isn’t one to sit back and wait. Teaming up with a crew of classmates—a video game ace, a math genius, and a resourceful engineer—Hal hatches a wild plan to power up a decommissioned cargo ship and push the entire space station back into safe orbit.
With failing thrusters, zero pilot training, and the clock ticking down to re-entry, can a group of kids do what the adults can't--or will they go down with the ship?
Hits the sweet spot for 9-12 year olds: fast-paced, empowering, technically engaging, and deeply fun.

BIO
-----
During a writing career spanning more than two decades, I've been indie published, traditionally published, indie published, traditionally published ... you get the idea.
By day I'm an author. By night I'm also an author. In between, I'm the programmer responsible for yWriter, which is used by thousands - if not hundreds of thousands - of authors around the world.
I love dry humour, and most of my stories and novels were written to make people laugh. Some of them move people to tears, but if they don't like the occasional terrible pun they're reading the wrong author.
Four of my works were finalists for Australia's most prestigious speculative fiction prize, the Aurealis Awards, winning once.
I do NOT use AI my books or for my covers. Every word is written by ME, and the covers are created by a human. (Also me, as it happens.)
I love plotting and writing my books, and I absolutely refuse to take any shortcuts or publish AI slop.

spincast11235 out of 5 starsWell writen and a relaxing read.
Reviewed in the United States on December 19, 2018Hal really pulls out the stops in this adventure. He acts as a real leader and delegates to the best fit for the job. I really enjoyed the adventure and look forward to the next one. Oh, I'm not a child, far from it, and I have no problem reading this kind of fun.
