About the authors

Author/artist Masashi Kishimoto was born in 1974 in rural Okayama Prefecture, Japan. Like many kids, he was first inspired to become a manga artist in elementary school when he read Dragon Ball. After spending time in art college, he won the Hop Step Award for new manga artists with his story Karakuri. After considering various genres for his next project, Kishimoto decided on a story steeped in traditional Japanese culture. His first version of Naruto, drawn in 1997, was a one-shot story about fox spirits; his final version, which debuted in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1999, quickly became the most popular ninja manga in the world. The series would also spawn multiple anime series, movies, novels, video games and more. Having concluded the series in late 2014, Masashi Kishimoto has kept himself busy this year with the side story Naruto: The Seventh Hokage and the Scarlet Spring and writing the story for the latest Naruto movie, Boruto: Naruto the Movie, both of which will focus on the title character's son, Boruto.

Madara Shows How Much of A Bada** He Is
Reviewed in the United States on January 2, 2014Madara show the Kage that he has more moves up his sleeve, while Naruto and his back up learn the secret behind Tobi's fighting style. The true final form of the susanoo is revealed and Madara mocks the Kage by saying only Hashirama can match his power and the landscape will only change some since its just him there. Overall this volume seems to add to how much of a bada** Madara is. This is nothing compared to what he'll be doing when he fights Naruto and Sasuke later on.

I have never read these books, but am a fan of the series because our 11 y/o finally wants to read.
Reviewed in the United States on February 7, 2015Working on buying the entire set and this has been the most affordable way to do it. These are the only books our 11 y/o will read without being threatened with torture. I have no idea what all this Naruto stuff is all about, but it's something that has helped him get his daily 1 hour of reading in, and now he will voluntarily ready more, often losing track of time.

Addictive Reading for Fans of the Show/Books...
Reviewed in the United States on March 9, 2014This series, both the books and the anime, are fast becoming a favorite of our son's. He reads a great deal, sometimes a book every two days, but these are purely entertainment and he gets a charge out of reading them. Highly recommended for fans.

Lots of super action...and a lot of flashbacks. Great Naruto action Volume
Reviewed in the United States on October 8, 2013I love the artwork Kishimoto puts into Naruto. The action is vividly shown and beautiful in the way it is done. The Naruto story is moved forward in this volume as many characters get involved in fighting Obito and Madara and their allies in the Shinobi War...including the 'edo tensie' (sp?) reanimations.
Once again, I just felt that there is too much Sasuke in this volume and not enough of the other rookie nine. I love the rookie nine (including Guy's team) and don't like to see an entire volume with them left out...especially my favorite, Hinata. She is not in ONE panel in this book...and since she is a much loved character...I would love to see more of her here.
I recommend this volume of Naruto to anyone who loves the superb action, beautiful drawing, and jutsu that Kishimoto has created. The weakness is the lack of any romance at all (I am a guy who likes just a little romance in stories)...which would have added a lot to the Naruto story over the past few years. If you like romance this is not for you...the romantic feeling is all one sided...Hinata loves Naruto and Sakura loves Sasuke...the guys don't seem to notice.

Fan5 out of 5 starsAnother great volume of Naruto
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on August 17, 2013I am going to make this review as brief as i can. Sasuke and Itachi manage to stop the reanimation jutsu of Kabuto. Sasuke gets an answer from itach about what happen the night of the Uchiha massacre (There is a VERY SAD SCENE which brought tears to my eyes). After hearing (seeing) the truth and also itachi's last words; leaves sasuke bondering about what it means to be a ninja and what the village is? Then Sasuke goes searching for an answer before destroying village. Meanwhile Things are looking VERY VERY bad for the 5 Kage, and also things take a twist. Naruto/Bee(8 tails)/Kakashi/Guy are holding their own against Tobi and the Gedo Statue. In This volume, you have story progression, lots of action, plot twist, sad moment, funny moment etc... Loved reading every page of it, and i can't wait for next volume :D
