A King's Oath -- A Royal Indian Grumpy X Sunshine, Coming of Age, Single Mom, Sports Romance (The Indian Royals Book 3)
When the Prince of Nawanagar — Samarth Sinh Solanki first meets Avantika Kumari Raje, he is twelve, a polo prodigy, and already carrying the weight of a crown. She, in contrast, is sunshine in sneakers — a Gwalior princess who bats like a dream and chatters like the wind. Thrown together by fate and a rather stern english teacher, they spend their golden years trading secrets, snacks, and silent glances across schoolyards and stables. Somewhere between shared benches and boundary lines, their childhood friendship flowers into a first love so fierce, it feels fated.
But kingdoms do not run on love alone. When duty comes calling, Samarth takes an oath that will tear them apart. He leaves without warning, without stopping — without knowing that he’s left behind more than just a broken heart.
But life isn’t done throwing its googlies. Continents stretch between them, they cross them. Promises pull them apart, they end up swimming across. In polo fields in Paris and twilight trysts in Tuscany — their hearts know before their minds catch up. But love, once tested, is now tormented. And when tragedy strikes again, Samarth walks away for good. Only, he doesn’t know he has left behind a legacy — not in a palace, but in a quiet cottage tucked away in a valley. A living echo of a promise once made in whispers.
Will the prince-turned-king rise above his silence and reclaim the life that was once his for the taking? Or will the story that began with two teenagers on a wooden bench end with a dynasty lost to its own delusions of duty?
A DUAL POV, GRUMPY X SUNSHINE, COMING OF AGE, SINGLE MOM, SPORTS, ROYAL ROMANCE by the author of 'BEYOND THIS HEAVEN' and 'THE QUEEN OF HEARTS.'
Tropes: Indian royalty, grumpy X sunshine, coming of age, sigma hero, strong heroine, friends to lovers, sports, angsty romance

Poignant
Reviewed in India on 3 July 2025This was a book I had been waiting to read, and it did not disappoint — I couldn’t put it down!
There were moments when the emotions were so strong that I actually felt angry with Tara. But by the end, I really liked how she changed and made up for her mistakes. The way the bond between the mother and son grew felt natural and real, not fake or sudden.
Samarth may not have been as clever as everyone thought, but I still loved him. Since we saw him in the earlier book, it felt like we got to watch him grow up.
And even though Giriraj had a small role, he left a strong impression. That shows how well the characters are written.
Overall, a beautiful story.
P.S. The cover is lovely and has such nice little details — it adds to the charm of the book.

Another masterpiece and one of my “Favouritest” in the royal series!!!
Reviewed in India on 17 June 2025Oh my gawwwddd!! This one took my breath away, Sam and Ava are to die for. Their friendship, relationship, them living out three decades of their life felt like a journey I have lived along with them. Author Bhavini has a knack to really loop you into her fantasy world. I didn’t wanted this book to end yet I wanted to devour it all at once cause I couldn’t get enough of this couple. Their love, loyalty and sacrifice, everything is so so pure that you will go through bouts of emotions yourself. I would and rave about this book to all my friends because it is truly a delight to read. More power to you our lovely author, keep em coming!!!! I want more of Sam and Ava. 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻

Just finished King’s Oath by Bhavini Desai — and I NEED to talk about it!
Reviewed in India on 14 June 2025Just finished King’s Oath by Bhavini Desai — and I NEED to talk about it.
Okay, if you’re into intense stories with emotional depth, royalty, betrayals, and that lingering ache of duty vs desire — please read this book. It’s not just another fantasy drama. It actually hits you in the gut sometimes.
The main character — the king — is not your typical perfect ruler. He’s layered, messed up in all the right ways, and struggling so hard to keep his word even when it’s clearly destroying him. I loved how Bhavini Desai made him feel so real — like you get why he’s doing what he’s doing, even when it hurts.
The writing? Beautiful without being overdone. You’ll keep highlighting lines without even realizing.
So yeah. If you’re craving a book that pulls you in, wrecks you gently, and leaves you thinking about what it means to be loyal, broken, or brave — King’s Oath is your next read.

A MUST READ
Reviewed in India on 4 September 2026Have read it twice and at the age of 66 I still find it a must read for all. Lady you have killed it. The story over 2 generations if both books are read in tandem soes not lose its appeal even once. Now how about a third part for Sharan and Brahmi. Do something.

Call it a Bollywood Script
Reviewed in India on 11 July 2025The insta reels brought me here and for once they weren’t wrong.
The story of royals with a second chance romance that is so detailed that if it were to be script the scriptwriter is gonna find it a pretty easy convert. Beautiful plot, sensible dialogues, and even though we could push this to the cliche romance category it is guided and drafted in a manner that gives the reader a fresh outlook.
Recommending to my friends.

Swathi Thammaiah5 out of 5 starsMust Read
Reviewed in Australia on 22 June 2025Just finished The King’s Oath by Bhavi K Desai — and what an absolutely captivating read it was.
A beautiful coming‑of‑age story of a young prince and princess, and the trials that shaped them. Even in a world of privilege, this book doesn’t shy away from heartbreak, sacrifice, and the collapse of long‑held dreams.
At its heart, it’s a masterful exploration of loyalty — and the extraordinary lengths one can go for it — a value that feels increasingly rare in today’s world, making this story all the more important and poignant.
Bhavi K Desai has yet again proven why she’s one of my favorite authors. Her storytelling is the reason I bought a Kindle in the first place, and she’s the reason I’ve fallen in love with desi fiction. Truly a must‑read!
