Rylan's Big Feelings Book Pop-Up & Book Signing

Local children’s author and Early Childhood Educator Alisha Mehan will be at The Book Man on Saturday, October 24 from 1–5 PMfor a special pop-up and book signing featuring her children’s book, Rylan’s Big Feelings.

Created for young children, Rylan’s Big Feelingsexplores the emotions children experience in everyday moments at school, home, and play. The story helps children recognize, understand, and talk about their feelings in a simple and relatable way.

As an Early Childhood Educator, Alisha has seen firsthand how important it is for young children to have language and tools to express their emotions. Her inspiration for the book came from wanting to create a story that families and educators could use to help children talk about their own big feelings.

“I wanted to create something that felt relatable for little ones and gave them a simple way to talk about what they’re feeling,” says Mehan. “Big emotions are a normal part of childhood, and I hope this story helps children feel understood while giving families and educators an opportunity to start those conversations.”

Visitors to The Book Man on October 24 will have the opportunity to meet Alisha, learn more about Rylan’s Big Feelings, purchase a copy, and have their book personally signed. Personalized copies will also be available.

A Tribute to Adele: Chilliwack Cultural Centre

A Tribute to Adele

An Evening of Music, Memories & Friendship

Following sold out performances and standing ovations across British Columbia, ”This is Adele” A Tribute to Adele has become more than a concert. It has become an experience that brings people together.

Featuring the unforgettable songs that have become the soundtrack to so many lives, this acclaimed live production celebrates Adele's extraordinary songs with incredible vocals, heartfelt storytelling, and exceptional musicianship.

At the centre of the production is Amanda Bentley, a vocalist whose talent leaves audiences spellbound. With effortless power and remarkable emotional depth, she does not try to imitate Adele. She honours the music. Every performance is authentic and uniquely her own, inviting audiences to laugh, reflect, sing along, and lose themselves in songs that have touched millions around the world.

Backed by a six piece live band personally assembled for this production, Amanda brings years of experience as a touring vocalist, songwriter, and multi instrumentalist to the stage. Her artistry and emotional connection to the music and audience create a performance that is beyond powerful!

Featuring hits including Hello, Rolling in the Deep, Someone Like You, Easy On Me, Set Fire to the Rain, and many more, the show captures the magic that has made Adele one of the world's most celebrated musicians.

This evening is about more than the music.

This evening is about the friends who finally make time for each other, the sisters who share a night out, the mothers and daughters creating memories. The people who gather together, sing together, laugh together, and remember how powerful it feels to experience something meaningful in the same room.

Amanda and her all female producing team invites everyone to make time for one another, put on that dress that only got worn once, sip champagne and make real memories together again.

At a time when so much of life happens through screens, A Tribute to Adele reminds us of the joy of live music and the importance of sharing experiences with the people we love. Hard stop.

At the heart of the event will be Heritage Chilliwack’s four new Chinatown Heritage Plaques, installed on or near the sites of businesses once owned and operated by members of Chilliwack’s early Chinese-Canadian community.

The plaques focus on the area historically known as Chinatown North, centred around the present-day downtown, including Yale Road, Wellington Avenue and Mill Street. They are the result of approximately three years of research and planning and mark the first phase of Heritage Chilliwack’s efforts to make the city’s Chinese-Canadian history more visible in the downtown landscape.

Heritage Chilliwack hopes to explore opportunities in the future to similarly recognize Chinatown South, which developed in another part of the community.

The October 3 event will begin at 11:00 a.m. near the Chinatown plaques located by Paramount Alley adjacent to District 1881, with a welcome from Heritage Chilliwack and remarks recognizing the history behind the project and the organizations that helped make it possible.

Mayor Ken Popove and Councillor Jason Lum are confirmed to attend, along with representatives of the Chilliwack Foundation, whose grant support helped fund the plaque project.

Following the opening program, visitors will be invited to continue to Central Community Park, which will serve as the event hub for the remainder of the day.

Two free guided walking tours will offer different opportunities to explore downtown history. Merlin Bunt will lead the first tour at approximately 12:00 p.m., incorporating the District 1881 area and its history. Michael Berger will lead a second tour at approximately 2:00 p.m., with a broader focus on historic downtown Chilliwack and the places connected to the city’s former Chinatown.

Throughout the afternoon, visitors can also take part in free family-friendly activities, including Chinese calligraphy, fan decorating and colouring activities. Heritage Chilliwack will have an information area in the park, along with refreshments supplied with the assistance of Tourism Chilliwack.

The Chilliwack Archives will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. especially for the occasion, with Chinese-related artifacts and archival materials available for visitors to explore.

Tourism Chilliwack is also supporting the event with tents, tables, sound equipment, water, coffee and other event logistics.

Uncovering Chinatown is free, drop-in and open to everyone. The event will take place rain or shine.

TripAdvisor 5-Star Reviews!

These flannel-clad heartthrobs have been officially dispatched by the Ministry of Sexy™ (yes, that’s totally a thing) to prove that Canada isn’t just nice - it’s devastatingly funny.
But here’s the twist: YOU decide if they’ve earned the Official Stamp of Sexy at the end of the night. Your cheers, your laughter, your votes hold the power.

If not? They'll be politely asked to hang up their plaid and retreat quietly to their log cabins in shame. Armed with maple syrup, silky serenades, some of the most averagely sexy bods this side of the Rockies, these lumberjacks are on a government-sanctioned mission to bring the funny and the heat -one Timbit-loving town at a time.

So whether you're out with your crew, celebrating something big, or just craving a night of maple-drenched mayhem -Canadian Steam is the comedy experience you didn’t even know was included in your healthcare.

ART: A Group Exhibition & Sale

ART: A Group Exhibition and Sale

Titled simply ART, the exhibition invites viewers to slow down, look closely, and experience what finished works can awaken—curiosity, recognition, memory, and wonder.

ART is a group exhibition and sale featuring a diverse range of artists working across an assortment of media. Presented by the CVAA (Chilliwack Visual Artists Association), the show highlights distinct approaches, materials, and points of view—offering visitors the chance to encounter many ways of making, seeing, and responding.

More than a label, ART  reflects what happens between the maker and the viewer. Each finished work offers its own visual language and invites a personal response—whether that response is curiosity, recognition, quiet, tension, comfort, joy, or wonder.

The exhibition encourages audiences to take their time, allowing meaning to emerge through observation and feeling.

Dates:  Sep. 23–Oct. 24, 2026

Opening Reception:  Sep. 25, 2026, 6:30–8:30 p.m.

Launch Stories - September 2026

BUY TICKETS HERE: http://launchstories.ca/

You are invited to Launch Stories on Tuesday, September 15. We will be talking to Tony Dehnke about building a profitable digital business and being a digital nomad.

Tony Dehnke opened Driven Audio in Abbotsford in 2010 and grew it into an award-winning car audio shop before selling it in 2017. After a successful exit, Tony took what he learned and created a digital scheduling and management product called 12v.Biz to help car audio, tint and 12-volt shops across North America book jobs, protect their shops and keep customers in the loop.

Tony says, "I built this product because the 12v industry deserved better than paper scratch pads and "he said, she said" damage disputes. It’s the software I wish I’d had in the bay — nothing you don’t need, at a price a shop can actually justify."

He started hacking on the project a decade ago while attending the weekly ChilliHack sessions that we used to hold at Cowork Chilliwack. Tony is now a digital nomad and runs his company from his laptop from Asia and Europe and comes back to Chilliwack for a couple of months a year.

We will explore Tony's career and lessons learned along the way.

Dinner and drinks included

Your ticket includes beer or wine and pizza or a wrap! If that's not your thing, we also offer a cheaper ticket and you can bring your own food and drink.

What is Launch Stories?

Launch Stories is a monthly event that features a fireside chat with business founders and experts. The goal of these get togethers is to share advice and inspiration for early entrepreneurs and to connect and build a local startup ecosystem. Our guests have been involved in technology, design, retail, e-commerce, manufacturing, professional services, product innovation, construction, and more. We dig into our guests' careers and lessons learned along the way.

Baby Tyler - Chilliwack Cultural Centre

Get ready to see the everyday world in a new way when Baby Tyler comes to the Chilliwack Cultural Centre on September 13. This delightfully strange and hilarious family friendly puppet performance invites you into a miniature world where anything can become a character and where even the smallest creature can have fantastic adventures.

Created and performed by seasoned puppeteer Ingrid Hansen, known for her work with the Jim Henson Company and Sesame Workshop, Baby Tyler is a playful exploration of imagination and the unexpected. Using only her bare hands, everyday objects, miniature environments, modeling clay, and a video camera, Hansen transforms simple materials into an entire cast of quirky characters and surreal situations.

https://www.chilliwackculturalcentre.ca/ccc-event/baby-tyler/

At the center of it call is Baby Tyler, a mischievous little creature standing just 25 centimetres tall. Living in a world designed for grown-ups, Baby Tyler encounters a series of obstacles throughout his daily life. With plenty of curiosity and determination, this tiny hero finds creative ways to overcome whatever gets in his way.

What makes Baby Tyler truly unique is the way the story unfolds live on stage. Hansen creates the action right before your eyes, while video camera magnifies these tiny worlds onto a huge screen. The result is part puppet theatre and part live filmmaking. With Hansen’s legendary sense of surprise and knack for turning ordinary objects into extraordinary puppets, Baby Tyler promises a hysterical journey that will have you laughing, wondering, and looking at your own hands a little differently.

Perfect for families and anyone who enjoys a healthy dose of imagination and absurdity, Baby Tyler is a reminder that you don’t need a giant world to have a giant adventure.

Baby Tyler is coming to the Chilliwack Cultural Centre on September 13, 2026 at 2:00 pm. Ticket pricing begins at $20, with membership discounts available, and can be purchased at the Centre Box Office, online at chilliwackculturalcentre.ca, or by calling 604-391-SHOW(7469).
