Golden Rule insurance and trans clients
alinonymous
One of the things counsellor Hildegarde tasked me with is finding out if my Golden Rule health insurance will cover transgender care. I can't find any statement of policy or anything to that effect on their website, and the policy is currently in my parents' hands and they're out of the house until after Labor Day. I can't get a copy of the policy in my hands until then since they aren't allowed to send to my uni address because it's not on the account.
So, my question is, what has been your experiences with Golden Rule as far as covering counselling, hormones, an endocrinologist visits?

post-counselling

The counselling appointment went pretty well actually. The counsellor (whom I shall henceforth call Hildegarde, because that's not her name and she looks nothing like a Hildegarde) brought up some really important things to consider and gave me some homework to do. I'm not sure if I should discuss it in an open forum though.

But my appointment went well, and I have another one in two weeks at the same time.

Counselling in on track to start
alinonymous
I just stopped by the Wellness Center today to pick up my intake forms which I just finished filling out. I filled the front and back of a letter-size sheet of paper with my answer to "why did you decide to enter counselling at this time" question. Apropos one side is written in teal; it might be a teal deer to my counsellor since the space provided in the forms is only 1.5 lines long.

My appointment is all set to be Tuesday at 14:30 after my Econ class. Wish me luck (:

I just emailed my Wellness Centre

My uni's wellness centre provides free counselling services, so I just emailed them to enquire as to their experience with working with transgender people/issues. Since I am the first trans person - to my knowledge as well as to the LGBT group faculty advisor's knowledge - to attend my university, I'm not expecting anything too miraculous. But I shall keep my hopes up.

Hi, I'm Ali. This journal is going to be for my transition stuff and probably some other stuff too. It's a forum where I can be openly trans thanks to the social anonymity. I shall endeavour to keep IRL details of my life out of this forum.
