Thanksgiving was fine this year, but just kinda... dull. None of my cousins from out of town came to Kokomo. My cousins that live in town never even came by my grandparents', so it was just me, Mom, Steve, Bill, Grandma, and Grandpa. And we almost didn't eat dinner together at the table. Grandma told the boys they were welcome to take their plates in the other room to watch the game. This bothered me both because 1) it's THANKSGIVING- you eat together, that's the point, and the only exception MIGHT be a close Packers game, because then the whole family would want to watch it together, and 2) HELLO- I love football too, don't be sexist and only mention it to the guys. But the meal was tryptophantastic (can't take credit for that- I stole it from Ryan who stole it from Benji, but I still thought it was a great adjective for Thanksgiving). Mmm, Grandma's stuffing. My mom left the pumpkin pie at home, but seeing as I don't particularly like pumpkin pie, it didn't bother me. It was just kinda a blah afternoon of watching TV, looking at store ads, trying to look at wedding pictures on the slowest DVD player ever, fighting my grandma's crazy dog, eating, and watching a video of my grandpa getting to fly a WWII plane (he apparently paid like $500 to do it, but he's really proud). It was an okay afternoon... just not awesome. I mean, I didn't even get to see Gracia or Tom (or Tony, who goes to Purdue but I still never see).

Steve is cracking me up these days, saying all kinds of funny things (usually not on purpose). I've started writing them down because they're just great. "I mean, it's not like she's going to be the Miss America of Indiana" ... haha. And he really wants to meet Ryan (I'm not really sure why he does so much). And he wants to hang out with me a lot (we started playing a game of the Sims today, and he started watching Eternal Sunshine after I told him he should see that movie since I love it.) It really has been pretty fun hanging out with him. And so far, no brotherly/sisterly fights. This surprises me, but pleasantly.

I'm really sorry this is such a boring update; I think I'm mainly updating because I'm bored. Maybe I should go to sleep; I think I'm going to try to get up at like 4 to go to Best Buy and get some early deals. They open at 5 :( and then I'd come back, maybe take a quick nap, and go shopping with Aubs for awhile. And then go in to work for 6 hours... and then I'm hanging out with Terrance at Starbucks. (Not as good as Book Nook, but it'll work.) CRAP. No tengo money (out of my bank account). I'm quite used to that convenient dorm ATM. I hate to take out more money, since I have a lot lately... but I want to start Christmas present-ing, and I'd like to get a few new clothes, since most of mine feel a little too tight. And as much as I need to find some kind of exercise to solve this problem, I sincerely doubt that I'll be doing much of that in the next few weeks, since it's pretty much almost finals. :( Anyway, I haven't gotten a nice Christmas outfit in the past couple of years (I've worn prom/band dresses for the past few Christmases), and I think I would like one. And a pair of khakis or a sweater or two would be nice, because my wardrobe is kinda lacking in khakis and warm long-sleeved stuff.

I think I'll work on a Christmas list tonight, and maybe post it here. :) Hope you all had a happy turkey day!

Ahh. The weekend. It makes me happy. :)

Improv was pretty fun. Andy was hosting and decided to have 3 Jewish themed games to capitalize on the fact that he's the brunt of many Jew-related jokes. It really was amusing, without getting offensive (I think). I went up for a game and didn't do that badly, and I was somewhat included in a couple of games (they used "Jen" for a-do-run-run... wait, last night it was 'a-jew-run-run'... anyway, it was fun). Afterwards, Ryan and I went with his friend Alex and Alex's girlfriend Jessica to eat at Taco Bell. The Taco Bell has a lounge in the back. Like, two big leather armchairs and a leather couch in front of a fake fireplace. AT A TACO FREAKING BELL. It was amazing. Me gusta'd. I told them about Shannon's saying "en mis pantalones" as the answer to where anything is. Hahahaha, they liked it. :) (Shannon, if you read this, we NEED to hang out. I miss you SO much! and it's been FOREVER.) Afterwards, Ryan and I watched Back to the Future 2, and I want to go to an Enchantment Under The Sea Dance. SO MUCH. But I'd have to get a schweet 50's dress and learn to swing dance first.

Hardly anyone gave me songs to download or things they want to see pictures of. :( Come on, be creative! I might even give you *cookies* for commenting!!! (Since that seems to work...) Anyway, have a great rest of the weekend. :)

Yes, everyone's doing this... No, I don't care. These have been done a million times, and this is I think the first time I've done a "memory" thing. So please, comment either here or on my xanga. It takes no time at all and makes me smile. Even if you're an LJ friend and I've never met you, if you can remember a specific post I made or thing I said or picspam I did or something, tell me that. :)

If you read this, and your eyes are passing over these words right now, even if we don't speak often, please post a comment with a memory of you and me. It can be anything you want- good or bad. When you're finished, post this little paragraph on your blog and be surprised (or mortified) by what people remember about you.

PS- THE PACKERS WON!!!!!!!!!!!!! And the Colts did too. And the Boilers did. This is going to be a sweet week. Besides the whole chem exam thing.
PPS- HAHAHA I just saw a Capital One Mascot Challenge commercial and Purdue Pete totally pwned Herbie Husker with his sledgehammer. It was AWESOME. He totally won that commercial, lol. Even though he looks goofy.

Hello everyone! :)

November is speeeeding by. It's crazy. One more week (with a chem exam), one more weekend, and 1.5 more days (with a bio exam) and I'll be on Thanksgiving break. I'm SO ready for it already.

This is the longest I've gone not coming home, and it feels kind of weird. I miss home, but I'm not sure what exactly I miss. I know I feel like I haven't seen my mom in forever (it's been over a month, at least), and 3 or 4 weeks since I've seen Steve. And I don't even know when I last saw Bill. I miss the pets a lot too- when I'm home, it's pretty rare that 10 minutes goes by that I don't have some kind of interaction with at least one of my pets. I kind of wish I had a good place to keep a fish- just to have SOMETHING.

Thursday was amazing because chem lab was fairly fun and I got a 100% on my chemistry homework, after getting it done early. (This does not happen!) Friday, I didn't have to worry about the chem homework so I didn't do much of anything. I spent a lot of time napping, and some time going to class and eating. huzzah! Friday night, Joe came with me to improv. Apparently at least two people thought Joe and I might be more than friends or something, which is a little crazy (I mean, I walked into improv with him, that was it), but also pretty funny. I didn't think it was quite as funny as usual, but it's still always fun. I didn't go up for any games, but they did a lot of games I didn't know, and I guess I just wasn't feelin it. Anyway, afterwards Joe left, and then I went to Applebee's with the group. Good times, good Oreo milkshake. :) And i had a couple of "they like me, they really like me" moments. Because even though I don't usually have problems with people meeting me and hating me or anything, it's still kind of good to hear that I'm welcome there by everyone, and not just Ryan.

Speaking of... after 'Bees, Ryan and I went back to his dorm to grab his DVD's (which I have conveniently taken hostage) and then over to my room to watch Back To The Future. I'd never seen it before. I really liked it. I think a lot of the reason was just that the 80's are funny, and I love the 50's. I wanted to do Bye Bye Birdie all over again. :) But seriously- it was a good movie, and I'm glad I've seen it. Course, now there are two more... plus Star Wars... plus Firefly... and a multitude of other movies we plan to watch. Plus Boozer and I have our list of movies we want to see at some point (including our Disney movie marathon- schaweet!). I think my college social existence is going to consist entirely of movie-watching. Not that I mind; I love movies. Anyway- Ryan and I watched the movie- me talking the whole time as usual, and thinking out loud, making the connections- and then hung out for awhile. And it was already late. So I'm extremely sleepy today, but last night was definitely amazing.

And apparently I'm huggable, kissable, and cuddlable. :)

Back to The Wizard of Oz. It's on TV. I was really excited to see it on- I like this movie- but at the same time, I like the beginning so much better than at the end, and I only caught the movie once they were in Oz. :-\ I used to watch this a lot when I was little at the Rittman's house down the street. They had a projector thingy in their basement, and it was great. I don't remember if I've ever watched it at my house. I know my dad would never watch it, lol, because when he was younger the witch scared him, and he just refused to watch it from then on. This kinda makes me miss drama people I haven't seen in forever too (I don't think I've seen Sarah Ferenc since graduation!)... dressing up as Dorothy at the insight kid's fair was so much fun. And a much more comfortable costume than the Scooby Doo or Rugrats ones. Anyway- not sure why this movie has so many memories associated with it, but now you know.

Have a lovely evening, everyone!

PS- IF YOU HAVE THE ACOUSTIC VERSION (not live, acoustic) OF "PENNY AND ME" BY HANSON, PLEEEEEEASE GIVE IT TO ME! :-D

[music |some random queen song...]

On November 11, 2005 around 11:30 a.m. there will be a 21 gun salute that
will be fired at the Veteran's Day Ceremony at the Purdue Memorial Union.
Please do not be alarmed if you hear these shots fired.

They emailed this out to the entire university. To make sure we weren't alarmed when we heard shots.

I suppose it's a valid thing to do, but for some reason I found it really hilarious.

...Am I insane?

Just thought I would remind you all...
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9932838/
Pirates are not just in the past and in movies. w00t.

Fun weekend thus far. Friday night, improv and hanging out with improv friends at steak n shake. I'm finally getting to know the group better, and it's so much fun. (And may I say that cuddlage is also so much fun.) So, Saturday I slept in and got up about 5 minutes before I was supposed to meet Boozer for lunch. We ate, and then went to the football game, which was AWESOME. We finally won (breaking a 6-game losing streak), and it was a fun game to watch on top of that. I should've grabbed a hoodie, but it was okay anyway. It didn't rain for very long at all. Anyway, I was extremely excited, and the crowd got so into the game. I think it was the most school spirit I've felt for Purdue. :)

After that, I came back to the room and wasted some time, then dinner, and then I showered, and then did the typical girly "what-do-I-wear" mode, which I always feel pathetic being in but I can't help, and eventually made plans for the evening. Didn't have a tremendous amount of time for cutesifying, but I believe I ended up looking alright... lol.

So, Ryan, Andy, Jackie, and I ended up on a double date of sorts. There were a few moments when it was a bit backwards (the guys going together to the bathroom, and the girls coming out of the bathroom before the guys?!) but all in all it was fun. We went to Applebee's, where I had a kiwi lemonade (they're sooo good), and then to Barnes & Noble, where I browsed over the Packers books and proved again- as if it was doubted- my obsession. After wasting sufficient time, we headed back to Wabash Landing to see Chicken Little. I was a bit surprised, because Disney movies haven't been the greatest in the past few years, and this one was surprisingly funny. Me gusta'd. I think Andy will buy that the day it comes out. And I think Ryan was kinda relating to the guy at the beginning, which was amusing. And THEN Chicken Little started singing a Queen song. With a spoon. It was pretty perfect.

We also happened to notice that there are extremely few Disney movies where a main character has both parents living. Think about it. Ariel, Belle, Simba eventually, Cinderella, Snow White?, Finding Nemo, Toy Story (think about it- even when they were moving, where was the dad?!...but I could be wrong here), Jasmine, Aladdin... sure, some movies are exceptions, but it was kinda a weird revelation. I've decided if only I was a princess too, my life could be a Disney movie. Oh, and if I could sing really well. Those appear to be the requirements. And then I could live somewhere cool, and find a prince charming... tall, dark, and handsome? (or at least 2 out of 3, lol). Anyway, feel free to post your additions/contradictions to the Disney Movie Prejudice against 2-parent families.

Anyway, it was a fun night, and I got to hear quite a bit of interesting music (Andy Ober Orchestra- yeah, that's right, look em up if you like parodies like "Pi, Pi, Pi"; a bit of Weird Al; Spamalot soundtrack.) So we went back to the dorms, and I hung out inside for a bit before deciding to go out and watch the storm. A VERY good idea, may I just say. And a very good ending to the evening. That said... it's nearing 4 am. Time for bed. :)
