I read the news today, oh boy
Fri, Jan. 18th, 2008 02:52 am

I got into the University of New England, in Armidale (give or take 6-7 hours away from Sydney) and, um, yeah. I'm going. I've already chosen my units; International History, Linguistics, Human Bioscience and either French or German.

Boo Yah.

*does happy spaz dance like possibly never danced before*

I'm going to live on-campus, if possible. Considering costs, it doesn't seem like a bad idea. They provide everything. Plus... heeeee, dorm room. *gigglesnort*

Anyhoo. Now I go rest. How are y'all?

Howard is out, right? Anyone? I'm sure that's what TV is telling me, but I don't want to get my hopes up.

Anybody?

I have, quite honestly, nothing of interest to write about. Nada. Zilch. It's never stopped me before, but... oh! I know. In lieu of interesting, let me recap the weirder dreams my subconscious has treated me to lately:

- I was a hermaphrodite (which, I know, isn't biologically possible, but it was a dream, 'kay? 'Kay.). I had a girlfriend (sorta) who later reminded me of Kristen Bell (Dream!Me is a lucky, lucky... unspecified sex). I retained my gender, but... yeah. Had this... thing between my legs, and to get it to work (me and not!Kristen Bell hired a caravan in a park to try teh secks) I had to inject this blueish liquid into my thigh. The whole dream was very unsettling, actually.

- I won $150,000,000 in the pokies, all of which was given to me in coins.

- I tried to steal the remote from my brother, Turk from Scrubs and geldfuss, who were all on a couch, watching the news. I wanted to watch old cartoons. The Janitor (also from Scrubs) appeared and tried to take custody of a kid that was, apparently, mine.

- I was in an arts & craft class with this guy (reminds me a bit of David Anders, and may I just take a moment to applaud my subconscious for its excellent taste in pretty people? *claps heartedly*) who, for some reason, I'd had all these wicked tension-filled interactions with, and he was assigned to help me with a stuffed teddy the shape of a moose, while I'd totally forgotten what to do with it, so he was all nice and helped out, inspite of the tension between us. Also, he was dreamy. In an intense way. Which, really, is the very best way to be dreamy, don'tcha think?

- Ghost!mobsters tried to steal a rickety old house that belonged to no one. I stopped them, but not before the house came crashing down (I wasn't hurt, though). The council wanted to turn the remaining land into a swimming pool, but I petitioned them into making it a rollerskating rink. Not sure if I was successful.

And you know what the crazy thing is? All but the first dream I had in one night.

On a completely different topic, y'know what I like? British TV. Never did like it before, but I'm all about the UKTV lately. Mind you, not all of it. Actually... well, pretty much only Doctor Who and Life on Mars so far (except for the unfortunate incident when I watched a bit of Coronation Street, oh! And my new fondness for The Weakest Link), but I want more! More, I tells ya! And if it has John Simm or David Tennant in it, all the better. Thank god UKTV is showing Casanova at the end of September. Oh, David Tennant. Must I love you so?

Anyhoo, point is, if you know of any good British TV serials (even ones without time travel) that you think I might like, recommend away! Please and thank you. *smiles*

Ba ha ha ha ha! I HAVE A SONIC TOOTHBRUSH. For serious. My mom just handed me a toothbrush she bought for me at Aldi to try and at the front it has a yellow sticker that says 'Sonic Powered'. HOW. AWESOME. IS THAT!?

Alas, the toothbrush cannot put up shelves. There goes that potential hobby.

On a related note, I recommend this fic to anyone, ANYONE who has watched the new Doctor Who, and who happens to know a bit about what happens to Martha Jones after the end of Season Three:

'Hello, Doctor' by shaggydogstail.
Why? Because it's one of the funniest things I've read in, say, EVER. It's a Doctor Who/Torchwood crossover, with a Martha Jones that I love to bitty pieces (unlike the actual, canon Martha Jones, who's not bad, but not nearly as great as this one). This, by the way, coming from a "OMG-I-MISS-ROSE-GIVE-ME-ROSE-I-LOVE-ROSE-ROSE+DOCTOR=FOREVERELEVENTY" type 'shipper. Yeah, no, I'm not proud, but what can ya do? Anyhoo, back to the point: This fic? Crackilicious. PRANK CALLING THE DOCTOR. Nothing beats that. NOTHING.

Y'know who I wanna listen to? Cher. I have this huge craving for Cher. I only have two of her songs (her cover of 'Walking On Memphis' and 'The Shoop Shoop Song'). See, thing is, she gets a bad rap, yeah? And it's not like I'm a big fan of her newer music or anything (in fact, the general reaction to her new music goes something along the lines of 'bleugh') but, um... I have this crazy obsession with The Shoop Shoop song, okay? I can't help it. It's The Shoop Shoop Song. I defy you not to shimmy along to it. Can't be done!

Anyhoo. Back to my cave.

Y'know, with as much time as I spend looking for fic and other assortment of time-wasting fun on livejournal, I kinda forget to update this thing. Oops. I've been pretty good at the flaky lately. Too good.

Anyhoo, how's everyone? What passions rule you now, oh enchanting flist? Mine would be Doctor Who, and once I can manage to turn my initial spazmoid squee into somewhat coherent words about how just how much I love Doctor Who (so's far just New Who, but that will change), I'll, well, get back to you then, won't I?

Yesterday I finally convinced myself to open more albums on iTunes (it always takes me a while to introduce a new artist into my music list) and stumbled across 'Castaways & Cutouts' by The Decemberists and I can't stop listening. 'Grace Cathedral Hall' sorta breaks my heart. And there's one song (don't know which one yet, name-wise) that sounds a hell of a lot like Alanis Morrisette's 'Uninvited', but I still love it, because I love 'Uninvited' and it's still a great song, whatever its name is.

Tafe or work? Tafe or work? Or... both. *sigh* I hate life decisions. Ever since they started to feel like a bunch of choices with equally dull and uninteresting outcomes. Better than not making choices at all, I guess. *takes a deep breath and exhales* And so I release the emo and venture to read more fantastic and brilliant fanfiction. Maybe seek out some Ten/Jack. When the Ten/Rose well of fanfiction dries out. *rubs hands together and cackles slightly*

Night all. :)

There's no way the universe didn't do this on purpose somehow:

( Very vague casting spoilers for the second season of HeroesCollapse )

What a happy, happy accident.

Um, I'm sure the episode of TCR that just aired here in Australia on cable has already been aired a day or two ago in America, and also, it may have been a repeat, but just in case, I'm... uh, can you even call it spoilers with this show? ANYHOO.

The Hungarian ambassador playing guitar on TCR was made of absolute love. I love that guy. Hungarian Ambassador (whose name I'm flaking on) / Stephen Colbert OTP!!!

Heh.

Also, I cannot stop listening to Spoon. Specifically, the album 'Kill the Moonlight'. I've now played it atleast 50 times all the way through, 60 times most of the way through, 70 times half way, 80 times the first five songs and 90 times for the first three songs (probably on account of wanting to hear 'Small Stakes' again and again, oh what an amazing song).

There are so many songs that stand out. The first half of the album is especially strong. 'Small Stakes', 'The Way We Get Back', 'Something To Look Forward To', 'Stay Don't Go', 'Jonathan Frisk' and 'Paper Tiger' are all absolutely amazing and catchy in their own way. And they all sound so different from the other. It's why I love Spoon. *sigh*

Anyhoo. There should be something on cable better than Stand Up Australia (which sucks aweful, aweful donkey balls the size of pitbulls on a steroid diet), so I'm gonna go hunt it down. Nothing will escape the gaping hole in my brain that sucks in television through my eyes like a vacuum. Nothing.

*stalks off menacingly*

I love cable. I just adore it to pieces, I really do. There's so much CRAP on there. Endless and endless amount of crap. About a week ago, I had the stunning opportunity of experiencing 'Girls of the Playboy Mansion'. I didn't know I had such an appetite for laughably cheesy so-bad-it's-good TV. Though I've yet to catch 'Cheaters' (this guy who goes around telling people their s.o's have cheated). Pure class, these programs.

Of course, not all is crap. I've become completely attached to Project Runway. They're showing the second season, airing five back to back episodes on Sundays. Don't tell me what happens! Only Santino, Chloe, Daniel, Kara and Nick are left. I can't wait for next Sunday. I didn't even know I cared for fashion before this show, but it's just so addictive. It's the Idol et al. reality competition done well, since the judges (all professionals) make the decisions on who stays and goes. And these aren't meek and falsely modest contestants, ho-no, they're all out for blood and victory, and thankfully honest about it. Instead of the eye-roll inducing "Oh, I'm just so happy to be here, everyone deserves to wiiiin" there's "I can't believe that bitch is doing that". Hee! Glad to see contestants that know the meaning of competition.

Oh, and Chappelle's Show! I've been meaning to see some of Chappelle since, oh, forever, but I can be very vary of trying new shows (plus, I rarely have the comp space) so I usually drag my feet (I get there eventually!) but... no need! On TV now. Cable TV. Chappelle, by the way, is all kinds of awesome. Like with most things, I can't believe it took me so long to watch.

Plus, also, there's Scrubs, The Simpsons, Futurama, Whose Line and Family Guy on every night.

AND! FOR THE CAPS EDITION OF MY JUBILATION RE: CABLEINMYROOM; THE DAILY SHOW AND THE COLBERT REPORT. ON MY TV. FOLLOWING A SCHEDULE. MON-THUR. NO NEED TO DOWNLOAD EPS UNLESS I WANT TO. *EXPLODES IN CAPS*

*does the jiggy dance of resurrection*

All's cool, yo.

- D.

p.s. Also, my ma and grandma are away for the week, so I'ms holdin' down the fort. Raymond, dahling, why won't you answer your phone so that I can convince your ass to mosey on down here to cable-having land? These shows don't mock themselves, dude. I need someone to bounce my snark off of. Plus... Girls of the Playboy Mansion. You know you wanna.

p.p.s. I'm eating hazelnut gelato and it is delicious.

p.p.p.s I owe some emails and about a gazillion comments, so... sorry about that. Replying stuff will resume... at some point.
