Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find me, unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate;
I am the captain of my soul.

I just had my first real job interview today at a temp agency, and I was a nervous wreck.

Regardless, I think I got the job/jobs. The woman seemed pretty understanding, and for Christs sake, its only temping..

Until Genesis, chapter eleven, we had no war.
Until God set us to fight each other, for the rest of
       human history.

"On a plain in the land of Shinar, all people toiled together."
All humanity with a shared vision,
a great noble dream they worked side by side to fulfill
in this time before armies and weapons and battles.
Then God looked down to see their tower, the people's
    shared dream,
inching up, just a little too close for comfort
And God said, "Behold, they are one people... and this is
    only the begining
of what they will do... Nothing that they propose to do
will now be impossible for them..."
His words, in His Bible. The Book of Genisis, chapter eleven.

So our God, our powerful God got so scared he
    scattered the human race
across the face of the earth,
and shattered their language to keep his children apart.

An Almighty God this insecure?
Who pits his children against each other, to keep them weak.
This is the God we're supposed to worship?

How to party like a rockstar [10 Apr 2006|02:08am]
Kurt Vonnegut once said "Smoking(cigarettes) is an honerable way to kill yourself."

I couldn't agree more..

Also, I'm issuing everyone on LJ a challenge... Get extremely baked and listen to "fitter happier" by Radiohead on repeat.I warn you though, this isn't for the faint of heart. It might scare you more than any horror movie ever could.

You know what I just love? When a cop pulls you over for no damn reason, makes you get out of the car, PATS YOU DOWN, and then searches your vehical for "peace of mind." FUCKING PIGS. This is the icing on the cake of a fucking shitty week. I want to move out of this godforsakin place sooo bad. Holland? Switzerland? If only...

*sigh*

I really hate people that overuse the word "bro." Its a pretty fucking stupid word to begin with.. so I guess it makes sense that stupid people like to say it so much. Or maybe I'm just bitter and have no friends?

If you ever get a chance to go to Jack in the Box with hot girls.. you probably should, because the workers give you free tacos.

The new Animal Collective album is fairly kickass(kinda creepy too).

Broken social scene show in 2 weeks. Woot!

You'd think that in a campus of 29,000, there'd be at least one decent goddamned chess player. (Lots of pretty damned good drinkers though..)

Ok, I'm back..

How was Europe you ask?

beautiful.fun.exciting.annoying.crowded.dramatic.tireing.

I met new people. Some were cool, some were not. All the dudes were pretty badass, and only about 10 out of 30 girls were cool. There was this one girl in particular, named Mellisa.. Jesus H. Christ she was annoying.. The way she said my name made me want to stab my eyes out with a rusty screwdriver. I'm sure theres people like that on every trip though, so I shouldn't complain.

Anyway, I took 3 rolls of film and got my picture taken with Moby! He was on our plane back from Athens to New York. The stewardess said he looked like his name should be Clarence, haha.

I've only been home since about noon, and it feels weird being back in Corpus. I keep thinking about the trip, and how.. I dunno.. maturing it was. I'm really going to miss certain aspects of it, and certain people (whom I hope to keep in touch with).

I know I said I wasn't going to update this thing anymore. Guess I lied.

Europe:Day 10 Florence, Italy [17 Jun 2005|04:56am]
[ mood | excited ]

Hello to all my friends! This will probably be the only time I will be able to use a computer for the rest of my trip, so I'll take my half hour of internet time to tell all of ya'll that I miss you very much and bought you some very nice souveniers. Here's how my trip has been so far:

Days 1-2, Landed in london basically didn't do anything other than a short walk around a park next to our hotel. London is really awesome, but expensive.. I think I spent close to 80 bucks on food and water. Cigarettes are 11 bucks a pack =/. We found out who our roomates are.. mine are Kevin miller, John Pappas, and JD Tucker. Day 2 was spent at Big Ben, Buckingham palace, and Saint Paul's. On our free time, I and a few other guys found a very interesting store.. it turns out shrooms and peyote are legal in london, so we each bought 15 grams of mushrooms and walked around pickadilly circus. It was.. quite an expierence. All in all London was a lot of fun but far too expensive.

Days 3-4 Was spent in Paris. Long story short, we went to the top of the Eiffel tower, got lost, jumped the subway toll, and walked endlessly. Paris was my least favorite city so far.. it was dirty and crouded and the people were really fucking rude. ( Its only saving grace was the louvre)

Day 5 Was spent in Strausburg, France. Nice little city, very peacful and really pretty.

Days 6-7 We spent in Switzerland... it was really really really beautiful. We went to Lucern and went to the top of Mount Pilatus. Other than that we didn't really do much other than get drunk in bars and get in trouble with Mr. Parks. "One" of the kids on the trip had a little too much to drink, and threw up in the hallway of our hotel room. Some very nice girls cleaned it up with a towel, then shook it out the window. The vomit got all over the front of the hotel, and out tour guide had to pay 10 euros for the damages.

Days 8-9 Drove 6 hours in a bus to get to Italy. First stop was the leaning tower of pisa. Pisa sucks ass. The tower wasn't that great.. I thought it was too touristy.. but Cathedral and the basilica were really neat. Now I'm in Florence, we went to the Duomo saw Michelangelo's tomb. On our free time Krista and I waited for 45 minutes to see David, we met up with JD, and now were all sitting in an internet cafe updating our livejournals.

I have three minutes left, so this is goodbye.. After Italy we are going to Turkey, then Greece! See you all in 11 days! I miss you!
