Eikichi Kawasaki founded Playmore in August 2001.
Following the dissolution of the original SNK Corporation in October 2001, Playmore acquired its intellectual rights. In 2003, the company changed its name to SNK Playmore, establishing itself as a successor of the defunct company. In 2016, it would drop the Playmore name and rename itself to SNK Corporation.
