The aggressors online

Attacking makes you feel good

Multiplayer matches in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 can get pretty tense. Getting kills or capturing objectives requires you to be assertive throughout a match, and often aggressive to get things done. Pushing forward and attacking players actively is what makes an aggressive player in any match type. As always, Call of Duty multiplayer has a good selection of perks that cater to this playstyle, with variations of different colored perks to mix things up. Black Ops 7 does change up some of the way a few perks work compared to its predecessors, but they still encourage you to be aggressive when necessary.

Perks like Lightweight allow you to be more nimble and move around the map faster, while Fast Hands can help with reloading and swapping weapons faster. If you're someone that loves to use SMGs or assault rifles while traversing the map quickly, these are must-use perks. You'll want to be moving and take less time preparing for when you encounter an enemy, especially if your weapons are the most effective at close range. Having a collection of red-colored perks gives the Enforcer combat specialty, which gives you a boost every time you kill an enemy player. You gain health regen and extra speed for a short time, which can make you an even greater threat as you attack players.

Taking advantage of this boost while having the Lightweight perk equipped is a great pairing. But you can go even further by having the Perk Greed wildcard ability, which lets you equip an extra perk. The best part is you can have a perk of any color and still keep your combat specialty. Having Fast Hands with all of these bonuses can make you a force to be reckoned with on the map.

Being aggressive doesn't always mean you have to use red-colored perks. Many of the green perks that are accessible can cater to aggressive-style players, especially those who like to endure extra damage against lethal equipment or tactical grenades. Some of the red and green perks can also help boost your score toward killstreaks, making you even more aggressive against enemy teams when you score.

For the sneaky players

Made for snipers and ninjas

While there are people running around the map like lunatics, some players just want to hang back and be patient. These are the types of players that often use sniper rifles or long-range weapons, and like to be sneaky on the map. Most of the perks that cater to this playstyle are blue-colored perks, which also gives the Recon combat specialty when you have a full set equipped. These types of perks can be a real asset to patient players during objective-based matches, where you can stay back and watch over positions as enemy players rush into the area. However, they can be just as effective when you're moving around with stealth and guarding key points.

Some of the best blue perks include the Tracker perk and Cold Blooded, which lets you see enemy footprints on the ground and keeps you hidden from targeting and thermal scopes, respectively. Tracker is a great perk when you need help finding enemies as you enter buildings and closed-off areas. The footprints can be a dead giveaway for someone hiding nearby or realizing someone just ran through the location. This can be helpful in conjunction with the Recon combat specialty, which can highlight the side of the screen when an enemy can see you nearby from any direction. If you struggle searching for someone nearby, the extra indicator can give you a split-second alert before they fire upon you.

Other blue perks, like Ninja, can make your footsteps quiet while moving around. If you want the extra boost in stealth to help let you get behind enemies without detection, it can be a great option. It works best if you're trying to flank the enemy team during matches of Domination or Hard Point, catching them from behind while they scramble for objectives.

If you want to really be stealthy against enemy players, make sure you use suppressors on your weapons while taking advantage of blue perks. You can stay quiet while firing, and remain hidden on the mini-map. And if you're using Cold Blooded or Ninja, you're even more hidden from enemies.

Blending strategies

When you don't have a set style

What about the players who like to be a little free with their approach to the game? These kinds of players don't always stick to one strategy during a match, and sometimes like to change up on the fly, depending on the situation. One second they'll be very aggressive, and the next they'll decide to play more patiently. This is when choosing the right perks can be a little more complicated, because there's no strict direction for how someone wants to play. But that doesn't mean there aren't any good options.

One of the newest aspects added into multiplayer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is the Hybrid Combat Specialties. This means, instead of choosing one color set of perks, a player can mix and match perks while gaining a unique bonus that blends playstyles. Have more green than red perks on hand? You can gain a Tactician specialty for assisting players that grants bonus points for a short time from bullet-related kills. Having a combination of blue and green perks can give the Operative combat specialty, which grants more Field Upgrade charge every time you get a stealth kill, including the use of suppressed weapons and kills when you're hidden from sight. This mixture of perks allows for more experimentation while still gaining a bonus for equipping different colors.

A few good combinations of perks for players like this include Tracker with Lightweight, Blast Link with Quartermaster, and Ghost with Guardian. But there are tons of possibilities for mixing the perks in different ways to cater to one's individual playstyle. Taking advantage of the Hybrid Combat Specialties can give an extra edge when you don't see yourself wanting to stick with one approach during a match.

Don't be afraid to try out different combinations of perks that are different colors. Even ones that don't seem like they go together might still help in giving you a Hybrid Combat Specialty, which can give you a neat boost.

Perking up for the online battles

When deciding what you want to have within your loadouts in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, you're going to want to make sure you have the right perks alongside your favorite weapons. With more options being open to players in Black Ops 7 multiplayer, there's going to be a wider variety of playstyles you encounter online. Regardless of what type of player you are, unlocking and equipping perks that fit the way you like playing will make a big difference in the matches you get dropped into within matchmaking. The extra edge you gain from them may be the key factor to getting more kills and more victories online.
