Starcloud是总部位于美国的科技公司,以設計、開發並建設太空資料中心起家。[1][2][3]

历史

科技業界認為,資料中心所需的土地、電力,以及冷卻所需的水,在AI爆炸性發展下將逐漸不敷使用。新創者便將目光投向太空,以減少能源與成本需求。[4]Starcloud於2024年1月在美國加州埃尔塞贡多成立,最初的名稱為Lumen Orbit。[5]同年2月,Lumen Orbit搬至華盛頓州雷德蒙德,以和星链、亞馬遜公司、Microsoft Azure等科技公司的太空、科技人才密切交流。[6]

2024年夏季,Starcloud發布一份白皮書[7][8],並參與Y Combinator的創業加速器計畫。該公司在此次融資中募得超過1000萬美元,以建設太空資料中心。[9][10]

在2025年初,流明科技(Lumen Technologies)主張擁有「Lumen」的商標權而起訴Starcloud,Starcloud遂將名稱改為現名。[11]在該年度,Starcloud獲得额外的种子轮融资,使总融资额达到约3400万美元。[12][13]

2025年11月,Starcloud首颗测试卫星Starcloud-1乘SpaceX獵鷹9號運載火箭前往近地軌道。Starcloud-1上配备Nvidia H100 GPU ,Nvidia称H100 GPU的计算能力較國際太空站上搭載的NVIDIA T4 GPU强百倍以上。[14]Starcloud於太空中訓練並運行由Google DeepMind开发的AI模型,是科技史上首個在太空訓練AI模型的公司。[15]

Starcloud稱,Starcloud-1在近地軌道的測試太陽能發電與輻射冷卻資料中心,並以測試出的資訊在未來開發更大、更有效率的太空資料中心。[16][17]

Starcloud在2026年向美國聯邦通訊委員會提案,意圖打造由88,000顆衛星組成的衛星群太空資料中心。[18]同時Starcloud也計畫在衛星Starcloud-2上搭載比特币挖矿机。[19]隨後,該公司與SpaceX簽約,將星链的微型雷射整合至自家的衛星上,以提供更多頻寬並減少延遲。[20]

2026年3月30日,Starcloud宣布完成A轮融资,融资额达1.7亿美元,估值达11亿美元。Starcloud以17个月的時間成為Y Combinator史上最快达到独角兽公司地位者。 [21]
