The install went flawless and the wizard for software selection was a welcome addition.Only had one issue and that was with the install of Brave because it wanted to update afterwards and could not. Not a biggie since most users coming to a freedom distro have some basic terminal skills. I can highly recommend this distro and commend the devs for making it an easy to use distro. It is what Void should have been from the start in my opinion. It is fast, smooth and simple to use. No forum or support as of now but the Void forum and online documentation should be enough for most users. It is early on so give them time to make it even better. It comes with Discover so you can easily add/remove software. Of course with every install you should first run the update then proceed with adding git, flatpak, wine and the extras so everything runs smoothly. I use doas instead of sudo and that was a change since for over 25 years my brain has been hardwired for sudo. But it works flawlessly. You can of course test drive it in a vm, which I am not a fan of as I have said before, it gives no guarantee that it will run the same on real hardware. But if you have done your research and decided to break free from systemd and want something with real freedom I think this might be the place for you. Of course their are many other distros that dont use systemd also and they are also an option. It is a distro for people who want simplicity, freedom and value choice and principle over blind acceptance the true Unix way. Welcome to the freedom and hope you enjoy Neko. Was this review helpful? Y hablando de estos, mientras que KDE es lo mismo de siempre con los atajos de teclado desactivados (no sé porque, pero no me quejo), el equipo de Neko-Void hizo un excelente trabajo con los otros sabores, particularmente con i3. Por defecto, viene con lo justo y necesario para utilizar void de forma diaria sin muchas complicaciones. Además, el wizzard viene con más programas útiles que muchos agradecerán poder instalar con un solo click. Mi única queja es que el instalador esta bugeado en la sección de partición manual, haciendo imposible usar otro almacenamiento que no sea ext4. Was this review helpful? Yes No Version: 20260805 Rating: 9 Date: 2026-09-08 Country: Argentina Votes: 1 A nice spin-off of Void Linux—easy to install and configure—created by a small team with a lot of dedication, love, and good taste. The best part is that it has all the great features of Void Linux (lightweight, modular, no System-d, built from scratch) but without the initial installation and configuration hassles. Since it’s a very new distro/spin, it still lacks a large community and developer base, but I think that will change as people try it out and see the excellent work that’s been done, and how free and lightweight the system feels. Long live Void and long live Neko! Bonita spin de Void linux, fácil de instalar y configurar, echa por un equipo pequeño con mucha dedicación y amor y buen gusto. Lo mejor es que tiene todas las cosas buenas de Void Linux (ligera, modular, sin System-d, echa desde cero) pero sin las complicaciones de instalación y configuración iniciales. Al ser una distro/spin muy nueva todavía carece de una gran comunidad y desarrolladores, pero creo que eso va a cambiar a medida que la gente la pruebe y vea el excelente trabajo realizado, y lo libre y liviano que se siente el sistema.
