PO3 kernel is good for gaming scenarios and workloads. There are are several images for different types of hardware and image switching is very fast, took me about 2 mins to switch from v2 to v4 version. In-built RakuOS software center would be good option for linux newbies who are not into terminal yet. This is just optimized fedora that u just can't break, no bugs from snapper and old timeshift, u just switch to old image from boot menu and there u go. I am a fan of bootc and make my own images and installing this on my system felt like a breath of fresh air. No need to maintain my own images, no need to keep an eye on whether GitHub is going to decide to build it on time, no need to get out of the OS at all to do the changes I need to do. And no need for scripts. I enjoy making my image but no amount of “stability” should force people to become almost a developer just to install something. Plus their Cosmic version looks very sleek, I never thought Cosmic looked particularly great but they made it look fantastic. Some community-supported utilities are also included to make it easier to use. All in all this is the distro I would recommend to new users (and experienced alike) and I hope this team takes off like Universal Blue and CachyOS. Yes No Version: 2026.04.22 Rating: 10 Date: 2026-08-25 Country: Indonesia Votes: 10 I have been running a custom RakuOS Hyprland image on my ASUS TUF Gaming A15 (Ryzen 7 4800H + NVIDIA RTX 3050) for several weeks now and I am genuinely impressed with what RakuOS brings to the atomic Linux space. The core concept is brilliant: an immutable Fedora base with a persistent overlay on /usr that lets you install any RPM package directly, without the slow rpm-ostree layering or reboot cycle. Coming from vanilla Fedora Atomic where every package install meant layering and waiting, this is a completely different experience. Packages install in seconds using dnf or the RakuOS Software Center and they survive every system update automatically. What makes RakuOS stand out from other atomic distributions is that it does not force you into Flatpaks or Distrobox for everything. You still have those options, but the overlay approach means native RPM packages just work. Steam, gaming tools, development libraries, system utilities, they all install natively and persist across updates. The base system stays immutable and recoverable through bootc rollback, while the overlay gives you the freedom of a traditional distro. The performance-optimised p03 kernel is excellent for gaming workloads. Combined with MangoHud, gamescope, and proper NVIDIA driver support, the gaming experience on this atomic base is on par with rolling distributions. The CPU scheduler utility for fine-tuning performance profiles is a nice touch that other distros do not offer. Boot times are fast, the overlay mounts in milliseconds before the login manager starts, and the system feels responsive from the moment it loads. Rollback through bootc is instant if something goes wrong, giving genuine peace of mind for system updates.
