Tunnels expose local Web Chat, Web Terminal, and Preview URLs to public networks. They are optional.
| Provider | Use when |
|---|---|
| None | Local-only use on the same machine |
| Cloudflare Tunnel | Stable public access through Cloudflare |
| ngrok | Quick public URL with ngrok account/token |
| localtunnel | Lightweight temporary public URL |
With no tunnel, use:
http://127.0.0.1:12358/va/
Loopback hosts are trusted and do not require pairing.
Public tunnel hosts require browser pairing. The pairing flow protects Web Chat, Web Terminal, API routes, and Preview links from unauthenticated access.
See Authentication.
Agents can create previews for:
- dev servers
- rendered Markdown
- HTML files
Preview URLs are short-lived and scoped to a preview session. If a tunnel is enabled, the public preview URL uses the tunnel host.
| Symptom | Check |
|---|---|
| Public URL does not open | Tunnel process running, provider token/config, firewall |
| Browser asks for pairing repeatedly | Cookies blocked, different browser profile, expired local auth |
| Preview works locally but not publicly | Tunnel route, preview target still running, auth pairing |
| ngrok/localtunnel unstable | Try Cloudflare Tunnel for longer sessions |
