Phetchaburi fireworks explosion damages seven homes

A Phetchaburi fireworks explosion damaged seven homes and left two people injured in Ton Mamuang on Tuesday afternoon, prompting an urgent response from provincial and district officials.

The explosion occurred at about 12.30pm at premises used to manufacture and sell fireworks in Village 2 of Ton Mamuang subdistrict, Mueang Phetchaburi district.

Phetchaburi Governor Pol Lt Phopchanok Chalanukroh instructed Mueang Phetchaburi District Chief Saran Ketthong to lead officials inspecting the scene and coordinating the response.

Two people taken to hospital

Two people suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital by emergency workers.

They were identified as Songkran Naphonmongkhon, aged about 68, and his wife.

Officials established a restricted zone around the premises while rescue workers and local authorities assisted residents affected by the blast.

Ton Mamuang Subdistrict Municipality, district officials, village leaders and emergency services were also instructed to provide support and help ensure public safety.

Cause of explosion under investigation

Authorities have begun assessing the full extent of the damage to homes and other property.

Officials are also collecting information from affected residents so that financial assistance can be considered under government regulations.

Police and technical specialists have been asked to investigate the cause of the Phetchaburi fireworks explosion.

The findings will be used to consider additional safety measures aimed at preventing similar incidents.
