Zoljanah

Zoljanah [Fars News Agency]

Zoljanah is a new Iranian space launcher. It is apparently based on the Sejil SRBM solid fueled missile. It is likely a replacement for the Safir rocket.

Zoljanah appears to be a three stage launch vehicle using solid- and liquid-fueled stages. Stage 1 and 2 appear to be solid fueled stages of Sejil SRBM heritage. The third stage apparently based on Safir's stage 2. Zoljanah has been designed to take a 220 kg payload to a 500 km orbit similar to Simorgh.

The vehicle stands 25.5 m tall. The first and second stage have a diameter of 1.5 m, while stage 3 and the payload fairing have a diameter of 1.25 m. It has a lift-off mass of 52 t.

The first suborbital flight took place in January 2021 from the Semnan missile range. An orbital flight is expected for later in 2022.
