Georg 1, 2, 3

GEORG (Global Electro Optical Reconnaissance System Germany) is a planned electro-optical reconnaisance satellite system for the German BND (Bundesnachrichtendienst).

OHB System was awarded in November 2017 a contract of 400 Million Euro to develop the three satellite Georg system to get an autonomous electro-optical reconnaissance capability. In the past Germany and France shared their reconnaissance capability, with optical reconnaissance being handled by France using their Helios satellites and radar reconnaisance was provided by the German SAR-Lupe satellites. In December a contract with OHB was signed for what appears to be a fourth satellite of this series.

No details on the satellites are known by now.
